DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ Meredith Corp. (MDP) on Monday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $18.6 million.
On a per-share basis, the Des Moines, Iowa-based company said it had net income of 1 cent. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations and non-recurring costs, were $1.53 per share.
The media and marketing company posted revenue of $853.5 million in the period.
Meredith to sell Fortune brand for $150 million
NEW YORK (AP) — Media and publishing giant Meredith Corp. says it is selling its Fortune brand for $150 million in cash to Fortune Media Group.
The deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by the end of the year. Meredith said Friday it will use the proceeds to pay down debt.
Fortune Media Group is owned outright by Thai businessman Chatchaval Jiaravanon, a part owner of the international conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group.
Co-founder of Salesforce buys Time magazine for $190 million
WASHINGTON (AP) — Time Magazine is being sold by Meredith Corp. to Marc Benioff, a co-founder of Salesforce, and his wife, it was announced Sunday.
Meredith announced that it was selling Time magazine for $190 million in cash to Benioff, one of four co-founders of Salesforce, a cloud computing pioneer.
Meredith had completed the purchase of Time along with other publications of Time Inc. earlier this year.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Three former Tennessee on-air news personalities have sued their old station, claiming station officials discriminated against them because of their ages.
Former WSMV-TV anchor Jennifer Johnson, ex-meteorologist Nancy Van Camp and ex-reporter Dennis Ferrier filed the lawsuit against parent company Meredith Corporation this week in U.S. District Court in Nashville.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Magazine publisher Meredith Corp. is suing the federal government claiming the Internal Revenue Service forced it to overpay its income taxes by $12 million.
The publisher of Better Homes & Gardens and Martha Stewart Living asked the court to order a refund in a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Des Moines, where the company is headquartered.
Meredith Corp. cuts 40 jobs, about 1 percent of workforce
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The nation's top publisher of magazines and websites for women has announced the layoff of 40 employees.
Meredith Corp. spokesman Art Slusark says the job cuts are part of a company reorganization that included promotions, new assignments and the layoff of about 1 percent of its 3,800 workers.
Half are in New York and half are in other company locations including 10 in Des Moines, the company's headquarters.
