Guilty plea in case involving prostitution of girl, 14
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Louisiana man has pleaded guilty in a federal child sex trafficking case.
Federal court records show that Pascal Calogero III of Metairie entered the plea Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
He was charged in September in a bill of information accusing him of paying to have sex with a 14-year-old girl and of joining with others to arrange prostitution dates for the underage girl with other men.

GRETNA, La. (AP) — A man convicted in the 2017 murders of a teenage girl and two other people in a New Orleans suburb has been formally sentenced to life in prison.
The Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office says in a news release that 33-year-old Corey Woods of Metairie (MEHT'-ah-ree) was sentenced to three life sentences on Monday. He was convicted in November on three second-degree murder counts. He also received a 50-year sentence for a separate heroin distribution conviction.

News outlets report the Metairie store lost power for most of the day Thursday and contacted Second Harvest Food Bank about donating the food.
Man gets life for 1995 Louisiana cab driver’s death
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A man who spent more than 20 years on death row for killing a Louisiana cab driver has been sentenced to life in prison after a new trial.
News outlets reported a Jefferson Parish judge sentenced 41-year-old Teddy Chester to life in prison Wednesday for the shooting of Metairie taxi driver John Adams.
Chester had been sentenced to die for the original first-degree murder conviction. A federal court ordered a new trial because of mistakes by his original attorney.
Wife released after reporting she shot her abusive husband
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Authorities in a New Orleans suburb say a woman who reported that she had fatally shot her husband has been released without charges.
The shooting happened Friday night in Metairie, in Jefferson Parish. A statement Saturday from the Jefferson Sheriff's Office said the woman called shortly before 9 p.m. to say she had shot her husband, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The move brings Frazier back to a club with which he averaged 8.3 points and 5.6 assists in 81 games before he was traded to Washington shortly before the 2017 NBA draft.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto tells news outlets no one was shot during the chase and exchange of gunfire early Wednesday in Metairie and Kenner. The teens range from 13 to 19 years old.
Pelicans sign Bluiett to 2-way contract
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Trevon Bluiett to a two-way contract after the rookie guard averaged 18.3 points in four NBA Summer League games.
The contract, announced by the club on Tuesday, means Bluiett will spend most of the season in the developmental G League, but can be called up periodically for a total of 45 days.
The 6-foot-5 Bluiett joined the Pelicans' Summer League team after going undrafted out of Xavier of Ohio last month.

Deputies arrested Clouatre but her charges were not immediately available. It is unclear if she has a lawyer.

Contract approved in Louisiana boulevard widening
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — A Louisiana parish council has ratified a contract for the preliminary design, surveys and traffic study necessary for a project to widen a boulevard from four to six lanes over the distance of more than a mile (meter).
The Jefferson Parish Council ratified the contact with Metairie-based Design Engineering Inc. last week in the project to widen Causeway Boulevard between Airline Drive and West Napoleon Avenue, news outlets reported.
NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) — A distilling company plans to establish a new bottling plant at the site of a former Pillsbury plant in southern Indiana.
The $66 million project from Metairie, Louisiana-based Sazerac Co. was announced Wednesday. Officials say the development in Floyd County is expected to create up to 110 jobs by 2021. The plant is located in New Albany across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky.

The constitutional amendment by Sen. Conrad Appel, a Metairie Republican, got a 63-16 vote Wednesday, short of the 70 votes needed.
The Senate had supported the measure unanimously earlier this session.

The Pelicans announced the move on Thursday, but terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
