Dawson propels CSU Northridge to 77-71 win over Hawaii
HONOLULU (AP) — Tavrion Dawson and Micheal Warren tossed in 22 points apiece and Cal State-Northridge shot 65 percent from the floor in a 77-71 victory over Hawaii on Saturday night.
Dawson knocked down 11 of 16 shots for the Matadors (6-19, 3-8 Big West Conference), who snapped a five-game losing streak. Warren hit 6 of 9 shots, including three 3-pointers, and all seven of his free throws. Terrell Gomez scored 16 and he and Warren combined to shoot 7 of 12 from long range.
Dawson, Shreiner have double-doubles, CSUN beats Cal Poly
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tavrion Dawson had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Lyrik Shreiner scored 12 points with a career-high 11 boards and CSU Northridge beat Cal Poly 72-54 on Saturday night.
Freshman Terrell Gomez added 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and Micheal Warren scored 10 for CSUN (5-14, 2-3 Big West).
Leonard powers UC Irvine past CSU Northridge 71-54
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Evan Leonard scored 20 points with 8-for-14 shooting to lead UC Irvine to a 71-54 win over Cal State Northridge on Saturday night.
Max Hazzard added 14 points, Eyassu Worku had 10 and Jonathan Galloway chipped in eight points while grabbing nine rebounds for Irvine (7-13, 2-2 Big West). The Anteaters dominated the glass 42-23 and never trailed.
CSU Northridge beats Morgan State 79-69
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tavrion Dawson had 14 of his 20 points in the second half and CSU Northridge beat Morgan State 79-69 on Saturday night.
Dawson also had nine rebounds for the Matadors (3-11), who won their second in a row following an 11-game losing streak. Reggie Theus Jr. added 16 points, Micheal Warren scored 15 points and Lyrik Shreiner 10.
Boyd helps spark Idaho State past CSU Northridge 67-55
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Brandon Boyd scored 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting, and Idaho State forced 17 turnovers on the way to a 67-55 defeat of Cal State Northridge on Saturday.
CSUN, hoping to end a 10-game losing streak, led 7-0 at the start, was tied at halftime but Boyd canned back-to-back 3-pointers as Idaho State (5-6) broke away on a 12-2 run early in the second half to take control and win for the fifth time in the last six games.
Loyola Marymount beats CSU Northridge 74-57
LOS ANGELES (AP) — James Batemon made a career-high four 3-pointers and scored 25, Eli Scott added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Loyola Marymount beat CSU Northridge 74-57 on Saturday night.
The Lions (5-4) made 53.7 percent (29 of 54) of their shots from the field and led the entire way from opening the game with a 9-2 run. Northridge (1-8) cut the deficit to 18-17 later in the period, but Loyola Marymount responded to make it 38-23 by halftime.
Idaho St. downs feisty Cal St. Northridge 74-66
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Balint Moscan shot 6 of 9 beyond the 3-point arc en route to a career-high 23 points and Idaho State handed Cal State Northridge its seventh consecutive loss 74-66 on Wednesday night.
The Matadors led for most of the first half and went to intermission with a 35-30 lead. But Moscan made three 3s in less than three minutes and the Bengals were up 48-44.
Rose’s 3s help Binghamton beat CS Northridge 70-65 in Cancun
CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Timmy Rose made consecutive 3-pointers late to help lift Binghamton over Cal State Northridge 70-65 on Wednesday in the third-place game of the Cancun Challenge.
J.C. Show scored 17 points to lead Binghamton (2-4). Thomas Bruce had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Rose finished with nine points.
Tavrion Dawson had 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting for Cal State Northridge (1-4). Lyrik Shreiner scored 14 points and Micheal Warren chipped in 12.
Brewer, Mahoney lead SE Missouri to 74-59 win in Cancun
CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Ledarrius Brewer made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points and Southeast Missouri State beat Cal State Northridge 74-59 on Tuesday at the Cancun Challenge.
Denzel Mahoney was 7-of-9 shooting and added 18 points while Ray Kowalski scored 10 points and Mark Laros grabbed nine rebounds to go with eight points. The Redhawks (2-2) shot 46 percent, including 42 percent from 3-point range (10 of 24).
Northridge beat NAIA Life Pacific 76-50
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Freshman Terrell Gomez scored 15 points, Tavrion Dawson added 14 points, and Cal State Northridge beat NAIA Life Pacific 76-50 on Friday night.
Gomez is one of six true freshmen for CSUN, which has won 15 straight home openers.
Micheal Warren chipped in 13 points, Lyrik Shreiner 11 and Zeno Lake had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Matadors, who outrebounded Life Pacific 50-31. Four CSUN players made two 3-pointers as the Matadors were 9 of 20 from distance.
