WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — The airline operating a flight that crashed into a Pacific lagoon in Micronesia on Friday now says one man is missing, after earlier saying all 47 passengers and crew had safely evacuated the sinking plane.
Air Niugini said in a statement that as of Saturday afternoon, it was unable to account for a male passenger. The airline said it was working with local authorities, hospitals and investigators to try to find the man.

US Navy rescues 3 fishermen adrift in Pacific for 8 days
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — The U.S. Navy said it rescued three fishermen Tuesday who were adrift on a boat in the Pacific Ocean for eight days.
The men were reported missing Feb. 12 after failing to return from a fishing trip in Micronesia, the Navy said. The men had food and water aboard their 19-foot skiff but no safety equipment or radios.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California political trailblazer March Fong Eu, who served as the state's first female secretary of state and later a U.S. ambassador to Micronesia, died Thursday at the age of 95.

1 dead, 1 alive, 2 missing after Pacific Ocean boat incident
HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for two of four people who were on a boat that didn't show up on schedule to the Federated States of Micronesia.
The Pacific Daily News reports that two people were found on Sunday floating in a debris field. The Coast Guard states one of those two people was still alive.
The survivor told rescuers that the two people still missing used gas cans as flotation devices to swim away from the boat.
U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii announced that the U.S. Department of the Interior will release $1.2 million to the state as partial compensation for the result of migrants from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau.
These funds are in addition to the $12.6 million already released to Hawaii for fiscal year 2017.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Authorities have identified the victims of a triple shooting at a St. Joseph apartment complex that left one victim dead.
The St. Joseph News-Press (http://bit.ly/2tyY7OB ) reports that last week's shooting killed 42-year-old Kias Bernard. Police say 37-year-old Fasios Bernard and 31-year-old Jass Walter were wounded. All three men are Micronesian, and police said earlier that a language barrier was creating communication issues.

Last month, he was named U.S. Ambassador to the Pacific island nation of Micronesia, islands previously known as the Caroline Islands, located southeast of the Philippines. All the islands together make up a land mass equal to four times the size of Washington, D.C.
‘SOS’ in sand leads to rescue of 2 people stranded on island

A U.S. Navy aircraft crew spotted the pair on the beach and gave their location to the Coast Guard in Guam. Hawaii News Now says the two, who had no emergency equipment, were picked up and taken to a patrol boat.
