Real Sociedad beats Celta 2-1, ends winless streak at home
MADRID (AP) — Real Sociedad's winless streak at home is finally over in the Spanish league.
Real Sociedad defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 on Monday to win for the first time in six matches at its Anoeta Stadium.
The club had lost twice and drawn three times this season at the newly renovated stadium in the city of San Sebastian.
New Celta Vigo coach mixes up team’s name with biggest rival
MADRID (AP) — Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso got off to an embarrassing start as manager of Celta Vigo on Tuesday, mistakenly thanking rival Deportivo La Coruna for hiring him.
Cardoso got the team's name mixed up during his official introduction, saying "Real Club Deportivo" — instead of Real Club Celta — in a news conference.
Former player Halilhodzic takes charge of French club Nantes
NANTES, France (AP) — Vahid Halilhodzic is taking over as Nantes coach after the French side replaced Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso on Tuesday following a poor start to the season.
Nantes won only one of its first eight games under Cardoso and is languishing in 19th place in the first division.
Nantes says Halilhodzic, one of the best strikers in club history, has signed a contract until 2020.
Grammy winner Miguel bringing 'War & Leisure' to Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Grammy winner and R&B star Miguel will bring his "War & Leisure Tour" to the Agora on March 10.
The show is part of a massive North American trek for Miguel in 2018. The tour will promote Miguel's album "War & Leisure" due out Friday, which features the lead single "Sky Walker," featuring Travis Scott.
Harry Styles, Miguel set for Victoria’s Secret China show
NEW YORK (AP) — Singer Harry Styles and R&B star Miguel will perform at the Victoria's Secret fashion show in Shanghai on Monday.
People magazine reports that Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr. and Chinese singer Jane Zhang will also perform at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The show will air Nov. 28 on CBS.
Karlie Kloss and Bella Hadid are among the 55 models participating. Gigi Hadid said she will not be walking in the show, a few months after Chinese internet users accused her of racist behavior.
Miguel ‘angered’ by immigrant treatment at detention centers
ATLANTA (AP) — After hearing numerous stories of immigrants being deprived of meals and relegated to harsh living conditions inside some detention centers across the country, Grammy-winning singer Miguel said he felt angered.
That's why he decided to headline a free #SchoolsNotPrisons concert in California to bring more awareness to the issue last month. More than 1,000 attendees were at the show, held across the street from the Adelanto Detention Center, the largest in the state.
2 more members leave FIFA governance panel
GENEVA (AP) — In a further blow to FIFA's image under President Gianni Infantino, two more respected members of its governance oversight panel have left following the removal of their chairman last week.
Navi Pillay, the former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and corporate human rights expert Ron Popper, have resigned, FIFA said on Wednesday.
Their move follows the exit of Miguel Maduro, a Portuguese lawyer and former government minister.
