Athletics’ 6-game win streak ends with 5-3 loss to Orioles
BALTIMORE (AP) — Presented with an opportunity to make up ground in their playoff run, the Oakland Athletics were mounting a comeback against the Baltimore Orioles' shaky bullpen in the eighth inning of a tight game.
Mychal Givens would have none of it.
Givens put an end to the potential rally, and the Orioles snapped Oakland's six-game winning streak with a 5-3 victory Thursday night.
Morales homers for 4th straight games, Jays beat Orioles 6-0
TORONTO (AP) — Kendrys Morales kept up his hot hitting and sent the Baltimore Orioles south of the border with another loss in Canada.
Morales homered for the fourth consecutive game, Thomas Pannone and two relievers combined on a two-hitter and the Blue Jays beat Baltimore 6-0 on Wednesday, completing a 10-game season sweep of the Orioles in Toronto.
Adames hits solo HR with 2 outs in 9th, Rays top Orioles 4-3
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Willy Adames' winning drive landed high in the left-field seats. According to Statcast, it measured 434 feet, the longest of the rookie's five homers.
"That's all I've got," Adames said. "I went for it and I got it."
Adames' solo homer with two out in the ninth inning lifted the Tampa Bay Rays to a 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.
Diaz gets winning hit as Blue Jays rally to beat Orioles 5-4
TORONTO (AP) — Baltimore closer Brad Brach saw his remarkable run of success come to a sudden end against the Blue Jays.
Aledmys Diaz hit a game-winning single in the 10th inning and Toronto rallied from a three-run deficit in the ninth to beat Brach and the Orioles 5-4 on Thursday night.
"It feels great to have a win like that," Diaz said through a translator.
Baltimore Orioles have much uncertainty in pitching rotation
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles began spring training on Wednesday with 35 pitchers and much uncertainty. Since last season ended, Baltimore shed four of its starters from the 2017 rotation: right-handers Jeremy Hellickson, Ubaldo Jimenez and Chris Tillman and left-hander Wade Miley.
Who'll replace them and slot in behind right-handers Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman in 2018 is a mystery.
Machado back in Orioles’ lineup
CHICAGO (AP) — Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is in the lineup after missing four games because of an injured left hand and wrist.
The three-time All-Star is batting third against the Chicago White Sox on Monday.
Machado says he felt good hitting and taking grounders Monday, adding that he does not expect any limitations. He is hitting .213 with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs for the Orioles, who came in with four straight losses.
