COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams wasn't himself as a rookie.
Back and knee injuries limited him to 11 receptions in 10 games last season, and a hamstring injury during OTAs this year had Williams wondering when his body would allow him to show why the Chargers selected him No. 7 overall in the 2017 draft.
Finally healthy, Williams has performed in training camp like the dominant receiver he was at Clemson.
Sanders, Baker lead Rutgers past Iowa 80-64
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — With Mike Williams out for the foreseeable future, Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell gave his team a simple message on Wednesday night.
"All hands on deck."

Dabo Swinney promises disappointed Clemson will be back
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had a strong message to deliver soon after his top-ranked Tigers were eliminated from the College Football Playoff — the run is not over.
Clemson, without NFL first-rounders in quarterback Deshaun Watson and receiver Mike Williams, were picked second in the ACC Atlantic this past summer. But the revamped Tigers rolled to a third consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference title and berth in College Football Playoff.
NEW ORLEANS — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney wasted little time before the season letting the media know he was tired of hearing about all of the players not on the 2017 team.
But the Tigers turned the negative questions about how the they would replace the likes of Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, Jordan Leggett, Wayne Gallman, Jay Guillermo, Jadar Johnson, Cordrea Tankersley, Carlos Watkins and Ben Boulware into a positive.

Rutgers looks to build off early wins like Seton Hall upset
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — It used to be easy to criticize Rutgers' schedule and scoff at its 9-3 record. That changed last weekend.
The Scarlet Knights' upset of then No. 15 Seton Hall has been a boost to Steve Pikiell's program. Beating the Pirates has shown Rutgers has gotten over the hump after close losses against once-ranked Minnesota, No. 24 Florida State and No. 2 Michigan State.
"We just showed everybody that we can play anybody in the country," senior guard Mike Williams said.

The 5 best moments and 5 worst moments in Carolina-Clemson football rivalry history
Of course, all Rivalry Week spin comes down to whether you have garnet or orange in your laundry.

No. 4 Clemson overcomes changing personnel to win once more
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Not this year, no way. Defending national champion Clemson had lost too much, the thinking went, on offense to post another serious threat to the title. But with the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season done, the Tigers are exactly where they want to be — on top of the ACC Atlantic and poised for another deep run.

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers traded receiver Dontrelle Inman to the Chicago Bears for a seventh-round pick on Wednesday, clearing the logjam in their receiving corps.
Inman has spent four seasons with the Chargers, catching 107 passes for 1,463 yards and seven touchdowns. He played every game last season in San Diego, but was set back early this season by sports hernia surgery in May.
CLEMSON — The 2017 season began, Mike Williams packed his bags for an NFL career in California and Deon Cain was christened the next marquee receiver for the Tigers, who have produced so many.
One media outlet called him "the next big thing." Another asserted Cain would be among the top receivers in the ACC.
The media as a whole dubbed him an All-ACC offensive performer in the preseason.
But seven games in, Clemson's statistics sheet tells a different story. Cain has been quieter than expected.
With seven games completed and the Clemson Tigers sitting at 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the ACC, the last five games of the season become the most crucial.
With the bye week upon the Tigers, it is time for the 2017 team to refocus and find ways to improve on offense, defense and special teams. Where they need to improve will come as a result of “self-scouting” and “internal evaluations” taking place this week.
Rookie WR Williams contributes to Chargers’ turnaround win
COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Mike Williams only got 10 snaps in his debut with the Los Angeles Chargers, and he caught just one pass. The first-round pick from Clemson still savored his first chance to be on an NFL field.
"Little jitters, but once I saw the ball coming my way, I felt a little better," Williams said.
CLEMSON — When the season began, many believed the Clemson defense could be one of the best ever.
And the feeling was that the superstar-laden defensive unit would be needed if the Tigers were going to absorb the losses on offense of Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, Wayne Gallman and Jordan Leggett.
Coming off a national championship and having two players picked in the first of the 2017 NFL Draft, one of three things was possible for Clemson football: it could drop off, it could be at the same level or, somehow, it could improve.
The third scenario appears to be the case for the Tigers.
CLEMSON — As the Clemson Tigers head into the month of October with a perfect 5-0 overall record and a 3-0 ACC record, positioned as one of the best teams in the nation, memories of the question marks that surrounded this team on offense appear far in the past.
Entering this season, the questions were all the same: How will the Tigers replace Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams, Artavis Scott, Wayne Gallman and Jay Guillermo? How will they be able to compete without them?
CLEMSON FOOTBALL: Is team better than last year’s national champs?

Before Monday night's game, the Broncos added defensive tackle Tyrique Jarrett and waived Kyle Peko.
ALBUQUERQUE — Just like most things in life, the things that used to be true way back when aren’t necessarily the same a couple decades later.
When Terance Mathis toured his former stomping grounds at The University of New Mexico this past week, he saw much of the old replaced with something new. The dorms he used to call home are different, the main drag he used to walk is now lined with orange barrels and new buildings.
CLEMSON — The Clemson offense was supposed to play second fiddle to the defensive unit this year after suffering the losses of wide receivers Mike Williams and Artavis Scott, tight end Jordan Leggett, running back Wayne Gallman and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist Deshaun Watson.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson's ascent to a national title was fueled by a dynamic group of skill players on offense like quarterback Deshaun Watson and receiver Mike Williams. If the Tigers hope to climb that mountain again this season, it will likely be on the backs of talented defenders like linemen Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence.
