Australia into Davis Cup finals in Madrid
ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — Australia won its Davis Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-0 to secure a spot in this year's 18-team final in Madrid.
The Australian doubles pair of John Peers and Jordan Thompson defeated Mirza Basic and Tomislav Brkic 7-5, 6-1 on Saturday on hard courts at Memorial Drive to give the home side an unbeatable 3-0 lead.
Alexei Popyrin, in his Davis Cup debut, followed with a 6-1 7-6 (2) victory over Nerman Fatic. The fifth match was not played.

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — John Millman and Alex de Minaur gave Australia a 2-0 lead over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Davis Cup qualifying on Friday.
Millman defeated Damir Dzumhur 6-3 6-2 in the opening singles match at Adelaide's Memorial Drive and De Minaur followed with a 6-3 7-6 (0) victory against Mirza Basic.
Play concludes Saturday with a doubles match and reverse singles.
Davis Cup: Millman to play Dzumhur in opening match
ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — John Millman will play the opening singles match of Australia's Davis Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina on hard courts at Memorial Drive.
Millman was matched against the Bosnia's top player Damir Dzumhur following Thursday's official draw with Australia's No. 1 Alex de Minaur to meet Mirza Basic in the second singles match on Friday.
MUNICH (AP) — Alexander Zverev began his Munich Open title defense with a 6-7 (12), 6-4, 6-2 win over Yannick Hanfmann on Wednesday.
The top-seeded Zverev needed over two hours to prevail over the 118th-ranked Hanfmann, a wild-card entry, and set up a quarterfinal against Jan-Lennard Struff.
Struff defeated German compatriot Yannick Maden 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
MUNICH (AP) — Fifth-seeded Fabio Fognini lost 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 to Italian compatriot Marco Cecchinato on a day of upsets at the Munich Open on Tuesday.
Cecchinato, who won his first title in Hungary on Sunday, saved five of the eight break points he faced and converted five of his own to win the first-round match in under two hours.
Seventh-seeded Gael Monfils lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to Mirza Basic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and No. 8 Yuichi Sugita was ousted by German player Yannick Maden 4-6, 7-6 (9), 6-2.
Edmund sets up Hassan II quarterfinal with Albot
MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Second seed Kyle Edmund beat Radu Albot of Moldova 6-2, 6-4 Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix Hassan II clay-court tournament.
The British player, ranked 26th in the world, next meets Tunisian wildcard entry Malek Jaziri, who secured an upset 6-2, 6-4 win against eighth seed Mischa Zverev of Germany.
Joao Sousa of Portugal and Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia will also meet in the last eight on Friday.
Top-seeded Ramos-Vinolas reaches 2nd round in Marrakech
MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Top-seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas was near-perfect on his first serve to dispatch Moroccan wild-card entry Amine Ahouda 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour to reach the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II on Tuesday.
Ramos-Vinolas of Spain took 20 of 22 points on his first serve to win in 68 minutes. He reached the final in Marrakech in 2012 when he lost to compatriot Pablo Andujar.
Goerges ends 6-year title wait with victory at Kremlin Cup
MOSCOW (AP) — Julia Goerges ended her six-year wait for another WTA singles title by defeating Daria Kasatkina 6-1, 6-2 in the Kremlin Cup final on Saturday.
The German swept the first five games before Kasatkina got on the board.
Kasatkina put up more resistance at the start of the second, forcing three break points in Goerges' first service game, but couldn't convert them and was broken in the next game.
Top-seeded Carreno Busta knocked out of Kremlin Cup
MOSCOW (AP) — Top-seeded Pablo Carreno Busta was knocked out of the Kremlin Cup in the second round by Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday.
The Russian broke 11th-ranked Carreno Busta twice in each set.
Medvedev's win sets up a quarterfinal against Bosnian qualifier Mirza Basic.
