ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have placed outfielder Mitch Haniger on the 10-day injured list and selected right-handed pitcher Tayler Scott from Triple-A Tacoma.

MLB All-Stars visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
HIROSHIMA, Japan (AP) — Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda were among the members of Major League Baseball's All-Star tour of Japan who visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on Monday.
Mattingly laid a wreath at the cenotaph in the park which commemorates the victims of the atomic bombings in 1945.
Cano hits 3-run 2B, lifts Mariners over Angels 6-5
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Seattle assured itself a winning season with another one-run victory Saturday night. It's still holding out hope to accomplish more than that.
"It's nobody's goal to have a winning season," Robinson Cano said. "The goal is to make the playoffs."
Cano aided Seattle's fading postseason aspirations with a three-run double that capped the Mariners' rally from a four-run deficit in a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Haniger’s legs, glove send Mariners over Yankees 3-2
SEATTLE (AP) — Mitch Haniger hit the deck three times for the Mariners late in Sunday's game. The first two put Seattle ahead against the New York Yankees. The next converted the lead into a victory.
Haniger dashed home to score the go-ahead run on a grounder in the eighth inning, then made a diving catch for the final out that gave the Mariners a 3-2 win over the Yankees.
LeBlanc sets tone in Mariners 7-1 win over Athletics
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Having finished his warmups just before first pitch, Seattle lefty Wade LeBlanc wasn't worried about stiffening up while watching the Mariners score five runs in the first inning.
If anything, LeBlanc was more energized from the extra rest.
LeBlanc pitched seven scoreless innings, Mitch Haniger hit his 23rd home run and Seattle jumped on the Oakland Athletics early and held on for a 7-1 victory on Thursday night.
Diaz gets 49th save, Haniger HR lifts Mariners over Dbacks
PHOENIX (AP) — Edwin Diaz was thrilled to set a Seattle Mariners franchise record with his 49th save. He's really looking forward to the next one, though.
Maybe a little more than manager Scott Servais — who has promised to match Diaz's funky haircut when his All-Star closer reaches No. 50.
"I want to get my 50 to see the haircut," Diaz said after he closed out Seattle's 6-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. "If I do it here on the road I will bring the barber."
Healy, Mariners rally past Astros 4-3 in 10 for 4-game sweep
HOUSTON (AP) — Edwin Diaz was supposed to be off on Sunday after earning saves in each of the last three games for the Seattle Mariners.
Instead, after the Mariners tied the Houston Astros in the ninth inning, the All-Star closer told bullpen coach Brian De Lunas to call the dugout to say that he wanted to try to make it four in a row.
Cruz’s double in 8th helps Mariners beat Astros 5-2
HOUSTON (AP) — The Seattle Mariners are feeling pretty good after beating Houston All-Stars Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole on consecutive nights.
Still, they know they have a lot more work to do as they chase their first playoff berth since 2001.
"We came here and wanted to start playing some better games and that's what we've done," manager Scott Servais said. "We're just playing better baseball right now and the top of the lineup has been really swinging the bat well."
M’s jump on Verlander early in 8-6 win over Astros
HOUSTON (AP) — Justin Verlander got pushed around by the Seattle Mariners early Thursday night, and then umpire Nic Lentz sent him off for an early shower.
Certainly not what the former Cy Young and MVP Award winner had in mind for his first shot at career win No. 200.
Seattle jumped on Verlander for six runs in two innings before the star right-hander was ejected for arguing a balk call in the Mariners' 8-6 win over the Houston Astros.
Healy hit in 12th pushes Mariners past Rangers 4-3
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ryon Healy let out a sigh of relief, and the Seattle Mariners regained the lead in extra innings when his hard grounder got through the left side of the Rangers infield.
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners can't seem to get their struggling bats back in a groove and end their freefall in the AL playoff picture.
Toronto's Marco Estrada became the latest to leave Seattle's batters baffled, using his mix of offspeed pitches to take a no-hitter into the seventh inning of the Blue Jays' 5-1 win over the Mariners on Saturday night.
SEATTLE (AP) — Marco Gonzales was looking for some retribution against the Kansas City Royals.
Gonzales (8-5) pitched a six-hitter for his first career complete game in the Seattle Mariners' 4-1 victory on Friday. The left-hander struck out seven and didn't issue a walk while throwing just 96 pitches.
"My last outing against these guys didn't go great — my second start of the year, I think — so I was looking for some payback, too. So I was a little more amped than usual," Gonzales said.
BOSTON (AP) — The toughest moment of Mike Leake's stellar night was missing a chance for a shutout.
Leake pitched eight sparkling innings, Mitch Haniger drove in three runs and the Seattle Mariners snapped a season-high five-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
With closer Edwin Diaz needing some work, Seattle manager Scott Servais had to deliver the bad news to Leake.
SEATTLE (AP) — Something about the big moments brings out the best in Mitch Haniger.
His two-run home run in the ninth on Wednesday, after a stellar defensive play in the top of the inning, gave the Seattle Mariners an 8-6 victory and sweep of the three-game series over the Los Angeles Angels.
"We have such a powerful lineup," Haniger said. "On any given night it can be somebody else and that's kind of the vibe. There's no panic."
SEATTLE (AP) — When Mike Trout gets on a power-hitting hot streak like this, it's hard for other teams to watch — and match.
The Seattle Mariners have been doing just fine the past two games going toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Angels slugger.
Mitch Haniger and Ryon Healy each homered twice as the first-place Mariners shook off two homers by Trout for the second consecutive night, beating the Angels 6-3 on Tuesday.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Mitch Haniger moved from center to right field as part of protective defensive moves in the seventh inning.
It paid off for the surging Seattle Mariners.
Haniger threw out Johnny Field at the plate to end the game, and the Mariners held off the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 Sunday for their 17th win in 22 games.
Waved home, Field tried to score from first on a two-out, bloop single by Carlos Gomez. Haniger rushed in, made a sliding try and then scrambled to retrieve the ball.
Leake pitches into 9th, Mariners beat Rays 5-4
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Mike Leake had Seattle cruising toward a comfortable victory. A late Tampa Bay surge merely helped the Mariners pad their record in one-run games.
Leake pitched into the ninth inning, Mitch Haniger homered and drove in three, and the AL West-leading Mariners beat the Rays 5-4 on Thursday night.
SEATTLE (AP) — Mitch Haniger swung for the fences with the count 3-1, but to no avail.
He eased up on 3-2 — and still hit a long home run to a most impressive spot at Safeco Field.
Haniger hit an impressive opposite-field homer leading off the 13th inning and the Seattle Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 on Friday night to improve to 6-0 in extra innings.
SEATTLE (AP) — James Paxton made one mistake, missing on his location with the only pitch he wanted back from another dominant performance.
It made the big Seattle lefty angry — well, at least as angry as Paxton can get.
"I think I got a little upset there and started letting it rip a little more," Paxton said.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The injuries keep piling up, and the Mariners keep winning.
Seattle had four everyday players out on Tuesday night, but it hardly mattered.
Mike Zunino hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning and Guillermo Heredia doubled home the tiebreaking run in the 10th as the Mariners pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Seattle has won four straight games and six of eight.
SEATTLE (AP) — Once Francisco Liriano was finished, the Seattle Mariners finally got started.
Mitch Haniger kept Seattle alive with a tying two-run homer in the ninth inning and Jean Segura's RBI single in the 11th gave the Mariners a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. The Mariners improved to 3-0 in extra-inning games this season.
SEATTLE (AP) — Whether it comes in the last at-bat, or in a late inning, catcher Mike Zunino said there is stern belief in the Seattle Mariners dugout that a decisive rally will happen.
And it did Friday night with a five-run seventh inning.
Mitch Haniger's RBI double capped the comeback as Seattle rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
