MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens acquired forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin from the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday for David Schlemko and Byron Froese.
The Canadiens also announced they had waived defenseman Karl Alzner.
Weise, a former Canadien, has played 42 games in 2018-19 with five goals and six assists. The 30-year-old had 59 points in 152 games with Montreal from 2013-2016.

MONTREAL (AP) — Jesperi Kotkaniemi needed just 54 games to etch his name in the Montreal Canadiens' record book.
He became the first 18-year-old in franchise history to score in three consecutive games as Montreal downed the slumping Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Tuesday night.
The Finn's first-period goal helped the Canadiens improved to 7-1-1 in their last nine games.
"It's obviously special to do something like that in this kind of organization," Kotkaniemi said. "It's a good thing."

MONTREAL (AP) — Nico Hischier wore the alternate captain's "A'' on his jersey for the first time in his career. The 20-year-old Swiss star has fast become a leader for the New Jersey Devils.
Hischier scored at 1:56 of overtime after tying it midway through the third period in the Devils' 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
Hischier tied it at 11:26 of the third, getting his stick on a loose puck in the slot.

Byron was assessed a minor penalty for charging in the second period of Montreal's 5-1 home victory Tuesday night. The suspension will cost Byron $18,817.
Byron has 10 goals and eight assists in 34 games this season.

Smith scored twice and the Nashville Predators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Saturday night in the second matchup between Subban and Weber since the blockbuster trade in 2016.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Adam Erne made a strong case for more playing time with the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 23-year-old forward scored twice in the third period, including the go-ahead goal with 1:02 left, and the Lightning extended their point streak to 14 games with a 6-5 victory Saturday night over the Montreal Canadiens.

NHL fines Canadiens’ Danault $5K for tripping Ekblad
NEW YORK (AP) — Montreal Canadiens forward Phillip Danault was fined $5,000 for a dangerous trip against Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad.
Danault tripped Ekblad with about 2 1/2 minutes remaining in Montreal's 5-3 win at Florida on Friday night. Danault was given a roughing penalty on the play. The NHL announced the fine Saturday.
