Man sentenced in fatal stabbing of Morgan Freeman relative
NEW YORK (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter in New York City.
Prosecutors say 33-year-old Lamar Davenport stabbed his girlfriend E'Dena Hines multiple times while under the influence of alcohol and drugs in August 2015.
Davenport issued an apology during his sentencing hearing Thursday, and said, "I don't remember what happened."
Shirley MacLaine to receive AARP Movies for Grownups honor
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Shirley MacLaine will receive AARP the Magazine's lifetime achievement honor at the Movies for Grownups Awards next year.
The magazine announced Tuesday that MacLaine will accept the Career Achievement Award at a ceremony on Feb. 4, 2019 in Beverly Hills, California. The 18th annual Movies for Grownups Awards will premiere on PBS on Feb. 15.

MANSFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A prison movie shot in Ohio continues to grip fans nearly 25 years after its release.
The Shawshank Redemption, with wily inmates Andy (Tim Robbins) and Red (Morgan Freeman) surviving long sentences and ultimately thriving, first hit theaters in September of 1994. It's one of the most enduring films of the late 20th century. So much so that it's hard to flip TV channels many nights without hearing Freeman's honey-toned voice chattering on about "my friend, Andy Dufresne."
Morgan Freeman says he did not assault women
NEW YORK (AP) — Morgan Freeman says he likes to compliment people to make them feel at ease around him but that he has never sexually assaulted women.
The Academy Award-winning actor is fighting back against charges of bad behavior made by multiple women in a CNN report this week. He said in a statement late Friday that the report has devastated him and that "it is not right to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor."

Anyone seeing this movie and has seen "Tin Cup" will get the similarities. Not only because both had Rene Russo playing the same basic character, and a lot of golf scenes, but also because Ron Shelton ("Bull Durham," "Tin Cup," "White Men Can't Jump") directed them both.
This movie is not as good as "Tin Cup," even though it is the same style of movie, with much the same type of humor. But, it is an enjoyable movie to watch.

The 80-year-old movie legend has landed the roll as the former American Secretary of State in an upcoming movie titled 'Powell', Variety Online has reported.
The forthcoming movie will follow Powell's career and will focus on his memorable speech presented to the United Nations in 2003, which saw him plea for the removal of Saddam Hussein after information had leaked that the Iraqi dictator - who died in 2006 - was creating nuclear weapons.
