Redskins lose another offensive lineman for season
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Rookie tackle Geron Christian is out for the rest of the season in the latest significant injury to the Washington Redskins' offensive line.
Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Christian will miss the final seven games of the regular season and any in the playoffs after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Christian, the Redskins' third-round pick who was forced into action by a bevy of injuries, hurt his knee Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Flags, injuries, bad ‘D’ hurt Skins in 38-14 loss to Falcons
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — As harbingers go, this was quite a start for the Washington Redskins.
After a 4-yard run on the opening play of the game, the hosts' initial possession featured a holding penalty, a sack for a loss of 9 yards, an injured left knee for left guard Shawn Lauvao — who was taken to the locker room in a wheelchair — and a three-and-out punt.
Redskins LT Trent Williams has ‘minor’ procedure on knee
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams had what coach Jay Gruden called "a minor" procedure on his knee and is expected to be able to play in the team's next game.
Gruden said Monday that Williams was scheduled for the "bursa sac cleanup" during the bye week and should return for Washington's game at the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 8.
The knee has been "irritating" Williams for a couple of weeks, Gruden said.
Redskins’ offensive line living up to Hogs 2.0 nickname
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Long before Alex Smith and Adrian Peterson joining the Redskins was ever a possibility, Trent Williams made up Hogs 2.0 T-shirts for Washington's offensive linemen.
The original "Hogs" offensive line paved the way for three Super Bowl titles, so this group has a long way to go before they can be compared to that group.
Most coaches, players not happy about Jets, Redskins scuffle
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Trumaine Johnson shoved Morgan Moses after a play, Trent Williams came to his teammate's defense and within seconds the multiplayer melee spilled into the crowd.
And that was just Day One of the joint workouts between the New York Jets and Washington Redskins.
Redskins select tackle Geron Christian in third round of NFL Draft
The Washington Redskins drafted Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian with the No. 74 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft on Friday night.
Christian, a 6-foot-5, 298-pound prospect, started every game at left tackle for Louisville from 2015 through 2017. He earned All-ACC honors as either third-team or an honorable mention each year.
Christian was the sixth offensive tackle selected in the draft.
Alex Smith headlines Washington players appearing at Redskins Draft Fest
New Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith will be available to fans for autographs and pictures at Redskins Draft Fest on Saturday, April 28 at FedEx Field, the team announced Monday.
Smith was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2018 third-round pick and cornerback Kendall Fuller in a trade made official in March.
Washington's offensive line will be as thin as feared Sunday when it plays the Seattle Seahawks in CenturyLink Field.
Left tackle Trent Williams, center Spencer Long and left guard Shawn Lauvao are out. Right guard Brandon Scherff is active, though how much he will play, and if he will start, remains in question. Morgan Moses, who sprained both ankles last week, is the "healthiest" Redskins offensive lineman.
SEATTLE -- Redskins coach Jay Gruden spent the entire week navigating a raft of injuries. The Redskins' offensive line is a mess and may have just one starter (Morgan Moses) able to play Sunday. Two tight ends are out. Jamison Crowder, Bashaud Breeland and Rob Kelley are questionable for Sunday.
Washington's flood of injuries has influenced the preparation of Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
Spencer Long out as Redskins adjusting to banged up offensive line
ASHBURN Jay Gruden couldn't help but laugh. After naming guard Tyler Catalina as the Redskins' contingency plan in case Brandon Scherff (knee) misses Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins coach laughed while adding an important caveat.
"If he can go," Gruden said, referencing Catalina recovering from a concussion.
The Redskins offensive line is banged up with four of their five starters missing practice throughout the week.
Banged-up Redskins face short week before game vs Cowboys
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Redskins' injury situation is so bad that coach Jay Gruden would rather give players an extra day off than practice and possibly make it worse.
House of pain: Redskins ready to play through injuries
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Across the locker room from where Montae Nicholson slowly took off his hoodie, Jordan Reed deliberately lifted the shoulder pads over his head to avoid more pain.
It's only Week 3, and the Washington Redskins are hurting as they prepare to face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday night.
"They're trying to fight through it right now," coach Jay Gruden said.
RT Morgan Moses signs multiyear extension with Redskins
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Right tackle Morgan Moses has signed a five-year contract extension with the Washington Redskins.
The team did not reveal the deal's financial terms when it was announced Thursday, before the start of the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-6, 335-pound Moses was a third-round pick out of Virginia in 2014. He has played in 40 regular-season games for the Redskins, including 33 starts — the last 32 in a row.
Redskins re-sign offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have re-signed offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe.
