The Post Register reports that Ron Heyrend filed for bankruptcy protection last week in federal court in Pocatello.
Heyrend says he canceled the festival planned in Idaho Falls after an investor pulled funding at the last minute.

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge has given the creator of the highly publicized, failed Fyre Festival in the Bahamas a six-year prison term.
Billy McFarland was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Manhattan. Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald called him a "serial fraudster."
He admitted defrauding investors of $26 million in the 2017 music festival and over $100,000 in a fraudulent ticket-selling scheme after his arrest in the festival scam.
Prosecutors want botched music fest promoter to get prison
NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors urged a judge Wednesday to sentence the promoter of a botched, highly publicized music festival in the Bahamas to over 15 years in prison.
In a written filing in Manhattan federal court, prosecutors said Billy McFarland was "far more interested in the fame and notoriety generated by the festival than he was in paying back investors and his employees."

The annual Fraley Mountain Music Gatherin' began as a family reunion and now honors old-time music and eastern Kentucky traditions. It is named for the late master fiddler J.P. Fraley.

Police seek 3 men in assault over Confederate flag
BROWNSVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Linn County authorities say a black teenager was assaulted at a country music festival after he criticized a Confederate flag three men were waving.
Sheriff Jim Yon said Monday that the men were driving through the camping area of the Willamette Country Music Festival in Brownsville waving the flag from a newer-model black Ford truck when the 18-year-old victim spoke out.
One of the men got out and hit the victim several times before fleeing. He has not been found.

Neighbors of speedway appeal to state supreme court
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Neighbors of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway have asked the state supreme court to stop the track's plans from holding a planned country music festival on its grounds.
In May, a judge ruled in favor of the Loudon track. The neighbors cited a 1989 agreement that prohibits the track from hosting concerts that aren't tied to racing events. But the judge found that property bought after 1989 and zoned for concerts and outdoor events isn't part of the agreement.
