SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The owner of China's largest music streaming services is looking to strike it rich in the U.S. stock market.
Tencent Music Entertainment plans to sell its stock in the U.S. as part of an initial public offering. The IPO documents filed Tuesday propose raising $1 billion, but that preliminary figure often ends up being substantially higher.
Investor demand is likely to be high, given the rising popularity of music streaming and Tencent's success so far.
SiriusXM presses play on deal with Pandora Media
NEW YORK (AP) — Subscription radio company SiriusXM says it's buying music streaming service Pandora Media Inc. in a deal valued at about $3.5 billion that will allow it to expand its service beyond cars and into mobile devices and homes.
Pandora has faced intense pressure from competitors like Spotify and Apple. Its last quarterly profit was in December 2014.
But a buyout by SiriusXM, which made a $480 million investment in Pandora in June 2017, may be the boost the business needs.
The music streaming service Spotify says it has removed some episodes of "The Alex Jones Show" podcast for violating its hate content policy. The move followed a backlash on social media.
"We take reports of hate content seriously and review any podcast episode or song that is flagged by our community," the company said in a statement late Wednesday.
"Spotify can confirm it has removed specific episodes of 'The Alex Jones Show' podcast for violating our hate content policy," it said.
Pandora to create 250 jobs in Atlanta
ATLANTA (AP) — One of the largest music streaming services will create 250 jobs in Atlanta.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said in a news release Wednesday that Pandora will expand its presence over the next three years. The company plans to hire for positions in product and engineering, sales, client services, legal and human resources.
Deal calls Pandora's expansion an "investment" to a highly-skilled Atlanta workforce.

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Swedish music streaming service Spotify and Chinese internet company Tencent have struck a deal to take minority stakes in each other.
The companies said Friday in a joint statement they will acquire new shares representing minority equity stakes in each other for cash — Tencent Music Entertainment will invest in Spotify, while the Swedish music startup will take a stake in Tencent's music wing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
