Oni’s 26 points help lift Yale past Columbia 83-73
NEW YORK (AP) — Miye Oni scored 26 points with nine rebounds and eight assists, Blake Reynolds scored 17 points and Yale defeated Columbia 83-73 on Saturday night.
After Mike Smith scored six straight to bring Columbia within 71-66 with 3:52 left, Yale (14-14, 7-5 Ivy) made all eight of its foul shots and the Lions shot 2 of 9 the rest of the way. Yale led 37-27 at halftime and maintained the lead the entire second half.
Columbia holds off Brown 89-82
NEW YORK (AP) — Mike Smith scored 24 points, Gabe Stefanini added 19 and Columbia held off Brown for an 89-82 win on Friday night.
The Lions (8-16, 5-6 Ivy League) pulled away in the middle of the second half with a 14-1 run to lead 64-49 and led by double digits until Desmond Cambridge's 3-pointer for Brown made it 75-66 with 5:43 to go.
Goodman’s big night helps give Penn 74-62 win over Columbia
NEW YORK (AP) — Devon Goodman, who had scored 35 points all season, came off the bench to hit five 3-pointers and piled up 23 points to lead Pennsylvania to a 74-62 victory on Friday night that kept the Quakers tied with Harvard atop the Ivy League.
Goodman made 5 of 8 shots from the arc while the rest of Quakers were 4 of 21. He added five assists.
Caleb Wood added 16 points and AJ Brodeur 14 for the Quakers (18-7, 8-1), who bounced back from a loss to Harvard.
Columbia’s 3-point parade sends it past Cornell 88-62
NEW YORK (AP) — Lukas Meisner scored 19 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range and Columbia registered 16 3s, dismantling Cornell 88-62 on Saturday.
In shooting 16 of 28 from distance, Columbia (4-12, 1-2 Ivy League) tied the program's single-game record for the second time this season. Quinton Adlesh and Nate Hickman each scored 14 and Adlesh was 4 of 5 from 3-point range and Hickman was 3 of 5. Gabe Stefani scored 11 and Kyle Castlin, 10 and 14 Lions players saw action.
Kelly’s scoop layup lifts Quinnipiac over Columbia 89-87
NEW YORK (AP) — Rich Kelly scored the go-ahead basket on a scoop layup with 4.8 seconds left, Mike Smith's 3-point attempt missed off the back of the rim at the buzzer and Quinnipiac beat Columbia 89-87 on Monday night.
Kelly scored the Bobcats' final eight points and set career highs with 22 points and 10 assists. He made a 3-pointer to pull Quinnipiac (3-6) within 85-84 with 3:50 left and another to tie it at 87 at 1:27.
Vital leads UConn to a 77-73 overtime win against Columbia
STORRS, Conn. (AP) — UConn guard Christian Vital scored 29 points against Columbia, but was happier with his two steals — the one that helped send the game into overtime and the other that preserved the Huskies' win.
Antwoine Anderson added 14 points for UConn (5-2), which overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to beat the Lions 77-73 on Wednesday night. Forward Mamadou Diarra added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies, who trailed the Ivy Leaguers for more than 36 minutes.
Colgate’s 3-PT shooting leads way in 77-71 win over Columbia
HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) — Will Rayman led five players in double figures with 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Colgate beat Columbia 77-71 on Saturday.
Colgate (3-2) made 5 of 6 free throws in the last 22 seconds and Columbia shot 3 for 9 from the field in last seven minutes. The Raiders extended their 36-30 halftime lead to 64-50 after Jordan Swopshire made a pair of 3s with 11:42 remaining.
