Kings trade Thompson to Canadiens
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings have traded forward Nate Thompson and a fifth-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens for a fourth-round pick.
Each pick is in the 2019 draft. The teams announced the trade Monday before the Kings faced the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.
Wagner scores twice as Kings end Jets’ win streak, 4-1
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings haven't looked like themselves very much lately.
Against the surging Winnipeg Jets, however, the Kings got back to their defensive roots and delivered one of their best performances in a disappointing season.
Austin Wagner scored twice and Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over the Jets.
Jarnkrok’s hat trick leads Predators over Kings 5-3
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Calle Jarnkrok's three goals sent many Nashville Predators fans home with a serious case of hat head.
Jarnkrok recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Predators to a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
"That was a good night for him," Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. "I thought he played terrific, forget about the goals, just the game in general. I thought he was really moving."
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Ottawa Senators forward Marian Gaborik had surgery Thursday to repair a herniated disk in his back.
The 36-year-old Slovak had 11 goals and 10 assists in 46 games this season for Los Angeles and Ottawa. He last played March 22.
The Senators said Dr. Robert Watkins performed the surgery at the Marina Spine Center in California.
Half-brother of Damian Lillard shot in mall parking lot
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say the half-brother of Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was shot Thursday during a confrontation with two men in a mall parking lot.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Jahrell Lillard received first aid at a store inside the mall before he was taken to a hospital. The severity of his injuries was unknown.
Lillard said on Friday night before the Blazers played the Los Angeles Clippers that his half-brother was in stable condition.

Kings acquire defenseman Dion Phaneuf in trade with Senators
Dion Phaneuf is on the move again as the Los Angeles Kings hope he bolsters their blue line for a playoff run.
Los Angeles acquired the veteran defenseman and forward Nate Thompson from the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night for forwards Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore. The Senators are retaining 25 percent of Phaneuf's $7 million salary-cap hit, so the Kings get a top-four defenseman for $5.25 million over the next three-plus years.
Mark Stone with goal and assist, Senators beat Red Wings 3-1
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — The Ottawa Senators rebounded from a blowout loss — at the Detroit Red Wings' expense.
Mark Stone had a goal and an assist and Craig Anderson made 24 saves in Ottawa's 3-1 victory over Detroit on Thursday night, three days after an 8-3 home loss to Montreal.
"It was about our identity and getting our identity back," Senators coach Guy Boucher said. "I talked about our trust in our goaltender, our trust in our leadership and that's exactly what we got tonight."

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Corey Perry came through with another big goal for the Anaheim Ducks to cap their big comeback.
Perry scored 1:30 into overtime and the Ducks rallied from three goals down midway through the second period to beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 Monday night and take a 3-0 series lead in the first-round series.
Perry's sharp-angled shot deflected off several players and past Flames goalie Brian Elliott.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Anaheim Ducks still hadn't clinched their division or identified their first-round playoff opponent with 10 minutes left in the final period of their 82nd regular-season game.
With one last surge in a stretch run full of outstanding play, the Ducks got the tying goal they needed and the rivalry win they really wanted.
And they're headed into the postseason on the NHL's biggest roll.
Anaheim Ducks sign Vermette for 2 years, $3.5 million
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Veteran forward Antoine Vermette has agreed to a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
Anaheim announced the deal Monday.
The former Stanley Cup champion spent last season with the Arizona Coyotes, getting 17 goals and 21 assists. The Coyotes bought out the remaining $3.75 million on Vermette's contract earlier this month, making him a free agent.
