Downed power lines cleared from Adirondack Northway
BEEKMANTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say downed power lines have been cleared from a northern section of the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 near the Canadian border.
Troopers say the lines came down Wednesday morning and blocked the southbound side of the highway near a rest area in Beekmantown, between the Canadian border and the city of Plattsburgh.
Troopers diverted all southbound traffic through the rest area until the power lines were cleared after several hours.

A New York state police helicopter team located the body of 55-year-old Kevin Straut in the Mohawk River near Rotterdam at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Straut's wife had called police earlier to report her husband missing. She said he had gone out fishing Friday evening and never returned.

New York State Police say it happened Sunday at the fairgrounds near Syracuse.
The 17-year-old who was stabbed remained hospitalized in stable condition Monday. He was wounded around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the fair's restaurant row.

Police: 94-year-old woman struck, killed while getting mail
SODUS, N.Y. (AP) — Police in upstate New York say a 94-year-old woman crossing the road to get her mail was struck and killed by a car.
New York State Police say Sodus resident Doris Richardson was crossing the road Saturday afternoon when she was hit. Authorities say the 47-year-old driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting Richardson, but was unable to do so.
Richardson was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Troopers are investigating.

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say a man has died after his car was hit by two intoxicated drivers traveling in opposite directions on an Albany-area highway.
The vehicle was struck and went across a median on Interstate 90 in East Greenbush at around 1 p.m. on Saturday. Then it was hit by a westbound vehicle.
Police: Suspected home invader shot by resident
COHOES, N.Y. (AP) — Police say an upstate New York resident has shot and killed a man who he says was trying to break into his Albany-area home.
Police in the city of Cohoes (kuh-HOHZ') and New York State Police are investigating the early Sunday shooting. Police say the resident told them he shot a man trying to get into his house in the middle of the night.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Police say they believe the shooting is isolated and there is no threat to the public.
Officials: 17 guns stolen from 2 firearm dealers
YORKVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities in upstate New York are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the person or people who stole seventeen guns from two firearm dealers.
WSTM-TV reports the first burglary happened July 26 at AX Tactical in Yorkville. Police say the suspect fled with three long guns. Authorities say 14 handguns were stolen from Gun Works in Verona a day later.
COLONIE, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say the driver of a tractor-trailer hauling logs has died after his rig crashed and overturned on an Albany-area highway.
Troopers say the truck was traveling north on state Route 787 around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday when it crashed and flipped over on the Exit 9W ramp in the town of Colonie (kah-luh-NEE'), just north of Albany. Large logs spilled into a grassy area between the highway and the ramp.
