Indians acquire RHP Wittgren in trade with Marlins
CLEVELAND (AP) — Looking to reconstruct their bullpen, the Cleveland Indians acquired right-hander Nick Wittgren from the Miami Marlins.
The three-time defending AL Central champions sent right-hander Jordan Milbrath to the Marlins for Wittgren, who made 32 appearances for Miami last season. The 27-year-old posted a 2.94 ERA and also pitched for Triple-A New Orleans.
DENVER (AP) — Right-hander Jose Urena has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder impingement, the latest setback in a disappointing season for the Miami Marlins' opening day starter.
Urena is 2-9 with a 4.40 ERA. He had a shutout through five innings in his most recent start Wednesday at San Francisco and then gave up five runs in the sixth and took the loss.
He complained afterward that he felt something wrong with his arm.

MIAMI (AP) — A.J. Ellis battled. And battled. And battled.
Ellis hit a tiebreaking single on the 14th pitch of an at-bat against Archie Bradley in the seventh inning, lifting the Miami Marlins over the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Sunday for their seventh win in eight games.
"I was just glad I didn't have to swing anymore," Ellis said. "My back and my obliques were getting gassed."
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Marlins have put Edinson Volquez on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb blister and recalled right-hander Nick Wittgren from Triple-A New Orleans.
The moves announced Wednesday come one day after Volquez struck out nine but allowed a career-high eight walks in 4 1/3 innings of the Marlins' 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay.
