Hulkenberg changing his mind about F1 halo after crash
MONZA, Italy (AP) — Nico Hulkenberg is saying hello to the halo.
Hulkenberg has often dismissed the protective device on F1 cars, which was introduced this season, with the Renault driver saying last year that it looked stupid and wasn't necessary.
However, the halo's benefit appeared plain to see at the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend when Fernando Alonso's McLaren spiraled into the air and bounced on top of Charles Leclerc's Sauber during a dramatic first-lap crash.

SAKHIR, Bahrain (AP) — Usually so impressive, Mercedes is in the uncommon position of having a point to prove at the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
World champion Lewis Hamilton must overcome the frustration of being denied victory at the season-opening Australian GP by his own team's careless computer error. Teammate Valtteri Bottas has to compete far better if he's to live up to his own preseason talk.
Red Bull’s Ricciardo fastest on F1′s first day of testing
MONTMELO, Spain (AP) — Daniel Ricciardo made a promising start to Formula One's preseason by driving his Red Bull to the fastest time and the most laps on the track near Barcelona on Monday.
Ricciardo clocked 1 minute, 20.179 seconds before rain and cold track temperatures that dipped below 7 degrees (45 F) kept most cars off the tarmac. The Australian bucked that trend and braved the poor conditions to be the only driver to reach the 100-lap mark.
BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — While others do routine Formula One testing this week, it will mean so much more for Polish driver Robert Kubica.
Kubica, who last raced in F1 seven years ago, will drive the Renault F1 car on Tuesday in the first of two days of testing at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary. If he does well, it will be another step toward F1 for Kubica — six years after sustaining serious right arm injuries.
BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Daniel Ricciardo described Max Verstappen's driving as "amateur" after his Red Bull teammate knocked him out of the Hungarian Grand Prix, while two other drivers were involved in a post-race feud on Sunday.
With the asphalt track temperatures well over 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit), the heat in Hungary seemingly got to some drivers.
German driver Nico Hulkenberg was also unhappy with Danish driver Kevin Magnussen.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Lewis Hamilton won the Mexican Grand Prix with the help of a wide turn through the grass and dirt at the first corner.
It was a crucial victory for the defending champion if he is to catch Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in this season's title chase with just two races left.
