The Red Raiders started that campaign Sunday with Keenan Evans scoring 25 points to lead his team over No. 20 Northwestern 85-49 in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
Texas Tech uses hot start to defeat Maine 83-44
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Keegan Evans led a balanced attack with 12 points and Texas Tech used a dominant first half to roll to an 83-44 win over Maine on Tuesday night.
Jarrett Culver and Zhaire Smith both added 11 points, Niem Stevenson 10 and 12 of the 14 Red Raiders who played in the game scored.

Senior-led Texas schools chasing Kansas in Big 12 race
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — There was a feeling of familiarity at the Sprint Center on Tuesday.
Down one hall walked the TCU trio of Vladimir Brodziansky, Ahmed Hamdy and Kenrich Williams, while the Baylor trio of Manu Lecomte, Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. and Nuni Omet stood down the other. Texas Tech seniors Keenan Evans, Justin Gray and Niem Stevenson huddled together nearby.
Three schools from Texas, all led by seniors who have been through the Big 12 grind.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Keenan Evans and Texas Tech didn't have to wait long for another chance against a top-five team at home.
This time, the Red Raiders came out on top with a late rally after blowing a big early lead.
Evans scored 23 points, Niem Stevenson had 21 and Texas Tech toppled fourth-ranked Baylor 84-78 on Monday night, two days after a one-point loss at home to Big 12-leading and third-ranked Kansas.
Smith scores 25 as Red Raiders beat LSU in Big 12/SEC match
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Zach Smith led Texas Tech with 25 points as the Red Raiders downed the LSU Tigers 77-64 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday.
Aaron Ross and Niem Stevenson each chipped in 15 points for the Red Raiders (15-6). Anthony Livingston totaled 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Evans, Texas Tech knock off No. 25 Kansas State 66-65
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Keenan Evans stepped up at a big moment for Texas Tech.
Evans made a go-ahead layup with 15 seconds left, helping the Red Raiders top No. 25 Kansas State 66-65 on Tuesday night.
"I had to run up there and finish the play," he said.
Evans' basket gave the Red Raiders a 63-62 lead. Aaron Ross and Niem Stevenson then combined for three foul shots for Texas Tech before Barry Brown made a 3-pointer in the final seconds for Kansas State.
Evans has 23, Gary 18 and 11 to lead Texas Tech to 89-46 win
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Keenan Evans scored 23 points, Justin Gray had his first career double-double and Texas Tech won its sixth straight, 89-46 over Nicholls State on Wednesday night.
Gray finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Red Raiders (9-1), who shot 55 percent and outrebounded the Colonels 43-18. Zach Smith and Niem Stevenson added 13 points apiece.
"I'm not forcing it as much anymore," Evans said. "Just letting the game come to me. Just letting it work through the offense."

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Forced into the starting lineup after Zach Smith twisted his ankle in warmups, junior transfer Niem Stevenson led Texas Tech with a career-high 16 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 87-50 drubbing of the University of Texas-San Antonio Wednesday.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Niem Stevenson and Keenan Evans had 16 points apiece in Texas Tech's 87-50 drubbing of the University of Texas-San Antonio Wednesday.
Stevenson's total is a career high and teammate Matthew Temple scored a career-high 13 points.
Justin Gray and Anthony Livingston finished with 10 points apiece for Texas Tech. Devon Thomas added seven points, six rebounds and six assists.
Evans leads Red Raiders past Bengals 91-58
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech clinched its fifth win of the season on Friday, defeating Idaho State 91-58 behind Keenan Evans' 16 points in an on-campus game of the Cancun Challenge.
"I think the Red Raiders played good," Idaho State head coach Bill Evans said. "I thought we would do a better job defensively against them. I think they really wear you down as the game goes on."
