Riley sparks Evansville past Green Bay 80-75
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — K.J. Riley sank 12 of 14 free throws, scoring 24 points and grabbing seven rebounds, to help Evansville hold off Green Bay 80-75 on Saturday.
Marty Hill added 12 points for the Purple Aces (6-6), who snapped a two-game skid.
Kameron Hankerson scored 12 of his team-high 18 points in the first half to guide the Phoenix (6-7) to a 37-35 halftime lead. Neither team led by more than four points in the opening half.
Chatkevicius leads Evansville past Division III Albion 65-49
EVANSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Dainius Chatkevicius scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Evansville beat Division III Albion 65-49 on Saturday.
Also finishing with 11 points for the Purple Aces (4-3) were K.J. Riley who had six rebounds, Marty Hill with five rebounds and Noah Frederking with three rebounds. John Hall led the team with 12 rebounds.
Evansville shot 38 percent from the field compared to 27 percent for Albion and had a 50-34 rebounding advantage.
Hall, Frederking pace Evansville past Wyoming 86-78
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — John Hall and Noah Frederking scored back-to-back layups as Evansville regained control in the final 2:24 and defeated Wyoming 86-78 Wednesday night in the Missouri Valley/Mountain West challenge.
Hall finished with a career-high 21 points and added 11 rebounds for his first double-double. Frederking added 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting, Shamar Givance scored 12 and K.J. Riley 10 for the Purple Aces (3-3), who remain unbeaten at home this season.
Feehan scores 20 as Evansville tops Texas Southern 85-63
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Shea Feehan made five 3-pointers and scored 20 and Noah Frederking added 16 points to propel Evansville to an 85-63 victory over Texas Southern on Sunday.
John Hall grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to go with nine points for the Purple Aces (2-2). Feehan sank 7 of 12 shots from the floor to help Evansville shoot 47 percent (39 of 64).
Frederking leads Evansville past Kentucky Wesleyan 92-72
EVANSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Noah Frederking scored 19 of his career-high 26 points in the first half to lead Evansville to its first win with a 92-72 victory over Division II Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday night.
Frederking was 9 of 14 from the field and made three 3-pointers. K.J. Riley added 16 points and John Hall had a career-best 13 for Evansville (1-2) in its home opener.
Mohamed Abu Arisha had 16 points to lead Kentucky Wesleyan. Zavon Godwin added 14 points and Adam Goetz had 13.
Evansville beats Valparaiso for 21st straight time
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting for his fifth 20-point game in a row, and Evansville beat in-state foe Valparaiso 63-59 on Wednesday night for its 21st straight series win dating to 1969.
K.J. Riley added nine points with six boards and Taylor had seven rebounds for the Purple Aces (16-10, 6-7 Missouri Valley Conference), who shot 46.8 percent from the floor in winning four of their last five.
Evansville celebrates ceremony with 77-73 victory
EVANSVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 25 points, including a big basket in the final minute, and Evansville defeated Drake 77-73 on a Saturday in which the Purple Aces retired eight jerseys.
Taylor made three 3-pointers and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. His midrange jumper blunted a Drake surge and led to a 5-0 spurt and a 75-67 lead with 12 seconds remaining.
Evansville breezes to 68-44 victory over Bradley
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Ryan Taylor hit four 3-pointers and scored 21 and Dru Smith had 14 points and six assists to lead Evansville to a 68-44 romp over Bradley on Saturday.
Blake Simmons chipped in with 12 points, five assists and three steals for Evansville (11-6, 1-3 Missouri Valley Conference), which shot 49 percent from the floor, made 8 of 15 from 3-point range and made all 10 of its free throws. EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Noah Frederking scored 19 points, Blake Simmons added 18 and Evansville beat NAIA Midway College 79-52 on Sunday for its fifth-straight win.
K.J. Riley had 15 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists for Evansville (10-2). Riley made 7 of 11 free throws as the Purple Aces hit 22 of 31 compared to six attempts for Midway.
Smith has career-high 25, Evansville beats Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Dru Smith had a career-high 25 points, seven assists and four steals to lead Evansville to a 91-76 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.
Smith was 11 of 13 from the floor, hitting three from long range, as Evansville (7-2) drilled 12 of 15 from distance, making 61 percent (34-56) of its field-goal attempts.
The Purple Aces (7-2), who have won two straight after dropping two, started the season with five consecutive victories.
Simmons has 17 as Evansville gets back on winning track
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Blake Simmons had 17 points with five assists as Evansville thumped Oakland City 98-56 on Saturday to stop a two-game skid.
Evansville (6-2), had won five consecutive games to open the season before losing to Louisiana Tech and New Mexico.
Taylor hits 7 3-pointers in Evansville’s 66-61 win
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Ryan Taylor made a career-record seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead undefeated Evansville to a 66-61 victory over Binghamton on Saturday.
Taylor, a junior averaging 23 points per game coming in, was 10 of 22 from the field and 7 of 10 from the arc. Dru Smith added 11 points and nine assists for the Purple Aces (4-0).
