BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Brian Warren had 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting as UT Arlington topped Appalachian State 82-72 on Thursday night, extending the Mountaineers' losing streak to four games.
David Azore had 16 points and a career-high 11 rebounds — the freshman's first double-double — for UTA (5-11, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) and TiAndre Jackson-Young added 14 points.
Sikes, S. Alabama hold off Appalachian State 79-73
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Rodrick Sikes scored 21 points and made four 3-pointers and South Alabama held off a late rally to defeat Appalachian State 79-73 in a Sun Belt Conference opener on Thursday night.
Battle leads Appalachian State to 82-73 win over NCCU
BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Joseph Battle came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points and lead Appalachian State to an 82-73 victory over North Carolina Central on Saturday.
Appalachian State (4-5) has won all four of its home games and three of its last four after opening the season 1-4.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Reserve O'Showen Williams scored a career-high 22 points, Justin Forrest added 19 and fifth-seeded Appalachian State cruised to a 93-64 win over Little Rock in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday.
Griffin Kinney and Ronshad Shabazz added 12 points apiece and Isaac Johnson had 11 with 11 rebounds for the Mountaineers (15-17), who face fourth-seated Texas-Arlington on Friday.
Appalachian State beats Troy 65-54
BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Ronshad Shabazz scored 15 points, Griffin Kinney had 12 points and eight rebounds and Appalachian State beat Troy 65-54 on Saturday.
App State outscored the Trojans 15-2 over the first seven minutes of the second half for a 49-29 lead. Jordon Varnado made two 3-pointers during an 8-2 Troy run to pull to 61-54 with 43 seconds left but O'Showen Williams and Justin Forrest made four free throws to seal it.
Appalachian St. closes strong, tops Coastal Carolina 81-66
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — O'Showen Williams scored a career-best 20 points and Ronshad Shabazz added 19 with three steals as Appalachian State pulled away in the second half for an 81-66 win over Coastal Carolina in Sun Belt Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Griffin Kinney added 14 points for Appalachian State (11-15, 6-7) which won two straight for the first time since ending December with wins over Texas State and UT Arlington.

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — O'Showen Williams had 13 points and Griffin Kinney added 10 with 12 rebounds as Appalachian State battled back to beat Little Rock 72-67 in overtime on Thursday night.
Appalachian State (9-13, 4-5 Sun Belt Conference) outscored the Trojans 13-8 in the extra period.
Appalachian State's Tyrel Johnson blocked Jaizec Lottie's layup with six seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.
Ajayi, Rodrick lead South Alabama past App State 83-77
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Josh Ajayi scored the game-winner with 44 seconds to go, Rodrick Sikes scored eight of the last 10 points and South Alabama held off Appalachian State 83-77 on Saturday.
Neither team led by more than nine during a contest that saw five ties and five lead changes. Griffin Kinney knotted the score for Appalachian State three times down the stretch. Each time Sikes put the Jaguars back in the lead.

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Ronshad Shabazz scored 21 points, including a pair of key free throws with 22 seconds left, and Appalachian State blew most of a 25-point second-half lead before pulling out an 80-76 win over UT Arlington on Sunday.
The Mountaineers (7-8, 2-0 Sun Belt) were leading by 12 with 1:02 remaining and then were nearly undone by 8-of-14 free-throw shooting before ending a four-game losing streak to the Mavericks (9-6, 0-2).
Appalachian State rolls to 84-61 win over South Florida
BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Ronshad Shabazz scored 21 points with five assists as Appalachian State rolled to an 84-61 win over South Florida on Saturday night.
Shabazz was 9 of 18 from the field and sank both of his free throws. Justin Forrest added 19 points and five assists for the Mountaineers (5-4). Tyrell Johnson had 13 points and Isaac Johnson had 10 rebounds.
App State tops UTEP 76-72 for 7th at Puerto Rico Tip-Off
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — O'Showen Williams had 19 points and hit two late free throws to help Appalachian State hold off UTEP 76-72 in Sunday's seventh-place game at the relocated Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Ronshad Shabazz added 12 points for the Mountaineers (3-2), who lost to Iowa State and Western Michigan on the first two days of the tournament.
Shabazz efficiently leads Appalachian State to 95-57 win
BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Ronshad Shabazz scored 25 points in 28 minutes and Appalachian State beat Bridgewater 95-57 on Sunday.
The Mountaineers led from the opening seconds after Griffin Kinney's 3-point play. Shabazz made two 3-pointers and scored eight points in a 16-3 run that put the Mountaineers in front 39-16 before the Division III Eagles closed to 41-21 at halftime. That was as close as Bridgewater would get with Appalachian State's lead climbing to 42 points.
