He received a $1.5 million, one-year contract, announced Wednesday at spring training. He can earn an additional $1 million in performance bonuses for starts: $200,000 each for 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24.
Anderson went 4-5 with a 4.48 ERA in 17 starts and 80 1/3 innings last season for the A's.

Kyler Murray has chosen football over baseball, at least for now. It is anyone's guess when the world will see another athlete with the skills and opportunity to have such a choice.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Athletics closer Blake Treinen will receive a $6.4 million salary for 2019 after winning his arbitration case.
Treinen's case was heard Friday. He asked arbitrators Steven Wolf, Allen Ponak and Phillip LaPorte for a raise from $2.2 million to $6.4 million, while Oakland offered $5.6 million. The pitcher's agent, Matt Sosnick, confirmed the deal Saturday in a text message.
Alderson hired as A’s senior adviser in baseball operations
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Sandy Alderson is returning to the Oakland Athletics as a senior adviser to baseball operations after previously working 17 seasons with the club in various capacities.
Alderson led the A's when they won three straight AL pennants from 1988-90 and a sweep of the earthquake-interrupted 1989 World Series against the San Francisco Giants. He was general manager between stints as team president from 1993-95 and 1997-98.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter and the Oakland Athletics have agreed to a $1.4 million, one-year contract to avoid salary arbitration.
Buchter more than doubled his 2018 salary of $555,000.
The team announced the deal Thursday, one day before salary figures are exchanged between arbitration-eligible players and their clubs.
Joakim Soria gets closer bonuses in deal with Athletics
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Relief pitcher Joakim Soria gets $6.5 million this year and $8.5 million in 2020 as part of his $15 million, two-year contract with the Oakland Athletics.
Soria can earn bonuses of $250,000 each for 35 and 40 games finished as part of the deal announced Dec. 21.
He would get a $750,000 assignment bonus the first time he is traded.
Lucroy can earn up to $4,525,000 with Angels
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Catcher Jonathan Lucroy would earn $4,525,000 under his deal with the Los Angeles Angels if he makes 135 starts behind the plate and has 525 plate appearances.
Lucroy gets a $3.35 million salary under the deal announced Saturday and can earn $600,000 for starts at catcher and $575,000 for plate appearances.

Rangers trade Profar to A’s in 3-team deal involving Rays
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas traded infielder Jurickson Profar to the Oakland Athletics on Friday in a three-team deal that included Tampa Bay and netted the Rangers four prospects.
Oakland also finalized a $15 million, two-year contract with free agent right-hander Joakim Soria, giving the A's a reliable and versatile reliever.
The 34-year-old Soria, a two-time All-Star, went 3-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 66 appearances and 60 2/3 innings this year for the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman had surgery Friday on his left shoulder, his second operation this offseason.
Dr. William Workman performed a distal clavicle resection procedure on Chapman's shoulder, the team said Friday. The Gold Glove Award winner is expected to begin swinging a bat in six weeks.
