Davis Cup: Hewitt steps in to keep playoff alive for Aussies
GRAZ, Austria (AP) — Captain Lleyton Hewitt stepped in to help Australia reduce its deficit against Austria to 2-1 in a Davis Cup World Group playoff on Saturday.
Hewitt teamed with John Peers to win the doubles rubber against Oliver Marach and Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Former No. 1 Hewitt, who came out of retirement this year to compete on the ATP doubles circuit, had not played in the Davis Cup since 2016.
French pair Mahut-Herbert wins French Open men’s doubles
PARIS (AP) — Once again, Nicolas Mahut fell on his back on the red clay of Roland Garros.
This time it was to celebrate a joyful moment, and not because his doubles partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert knocked him down the way he did two days ago at the French Open.
Having recovered well from the incident, Mahut captured the French Open title with Herbert on Saturday by defeating Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the final.

Doubles double at the Australian Open for Mate Pavic
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Mate Pavic picked up two Grand Slam titles within 24 hours after winning the Australian Open mixed doubles on Sunday.
The afternoon after winning the men's doubles, Pavic combined with Gabriela Dabrowski to beat Rohan Bopanna Timea Babos 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 under a closed roof at Rod Laver Arena.
He teamed with Austrian Oliver Marach to win the men's doubles title late the previous night, after Caroline Wozniacki's win in the women's singles final against Simona Halep.

Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina won the women's doubles title at Wimbledon by beating Chan Hao-ching and Monica Niculescu 6-0, 6-0 under a closed roof on Centre Court.
The match started at 9:30 p.m. and lasted 55 minutes.
It was Makarova and Vesnina's third Grand Slam title together. They won the French Open in 2013 and the U.S. Open in 2014.
