CLEVELAND (AP) — Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs in a game for the first time in the major leagues, and the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Cleveland Indians 7-4 on Friday night.
Ohtani, whose four hits were also the most of his big league career, singled in the eighth and scored the go-ahead run on David Fletcher's double.

Cubs rally past Scherzer, Nationals 2-1, lead NLDS 2-1
CHICAGO (AP) — Moments after his go-ahead hit, Anthony Rizzo walked across the infield at frenzied Wrigley Field and shouted "Respect me! Respect me!"
A year after their historic championship, Rizzo and the Chicago Cubs are fighting for another memorable October.
Rizzo blooped a tiebreaking single into left field with two outs in the eighth and the Cubs overcame Max Scherzer's brilliant performance to beat the Washington Nationals 2-1 on Monday for a 2-1 lead in their NL Division Series.
Nationals acquire lefty reliever Rzepczynski from Athletics
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals acquired reliever Marc Rzepczynski from Oakland on Thursday, giving the NL East leaders another lefty in the bullpen.
Oakland also sent $500,000 to be paid on Sept. 30 to the Nationals for minor league infielder Max Schrock.
The Nationals have reshaped their relief corps in the last month. They added closer Marc Melancon, traded Felipe Rivero, cut Jonathan Papelbon and put Sammy Solis on the disabled list.
WASHINGTON (AP) — If Dusty Baker had gotten the sign to his catcher faster, the Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates might still be playing.
Instead, Baker was slow on the trigger in asking for an intentional walk, and the Nationals lost to the Pirates 2-1 in 18 innings Sunday on Starling Marte's solo home run off Oliver Perez.
Baker took responsibility for the mistake of not getting his four fingers up in time to alert Wilson Ramos and Perez to...
WASHINGTON (AP) — After more than five hours of baseball between his Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals, Starling Marte had all he could take.
"Too many innings," Marte said. "We were tired. It was time for a home run."
Marte's solo home run off Oliver Perez in the 18th inning on Sunday gave the Pirates a 2-1 victory in a marathon game that was the longest for both teams this season. The only longer game in the majors this season came July 1 when...
NEW YORK (AP) — It's been more than a century since a National League starting pitcher was as perfect as Stephen Strasburg so far.
Strasburg stayed undefeated, winning a marquee matchup against an ailing Noah Syndergaard by tossing seven innings of two-hit ball Friday night that sent the Washington Nationals to a 3-1 victory over the banged-up New York Mets.
Clint Robinson hit a two-run homer for the Nationals, going deep for the second consecutive night, and...
