Retired Admirals and Generals to Celebrate a Decade of Advocating for Investments in Children and Urge Nation to Stay the Course
Chairman and Ranking Member of Senate Agriculture Committee to join retired military leaders
WASHINGTON (November 14, 2019) -- On November 19, the retired admirals and generals of the nonprofit Mission: Readiness will celebrate a decade of advocating for investments in children’s health and education to address the problems that disqualify 71 percent of young Americans from military service. They will release a new report that urges the nation to stay the course in the battle against obesity and the ongoing recruiting challenges faced by the U.S. armed forces.
The retired military leaders will be joined by U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS), Chairman, and U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Ranking Member, of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry. General (Ret.) Lori Robinson, former Commander of U.S. Northern Command and NORAD and the first woman in U.S. history to lead a combatant command, will give the keynote at the event.
The report, entitled Stay the Course: Building on a Decade of Results, shows how the main disqualifiers for military service have changed over time; Mission: Readiness’ role in obesity prevention; and future challenges and opportunities.
