Athletics claim RHP Parker Bridwell off waivers from Angels
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Athletics have claimed right-hander Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.
The 27-year-old Bridwell went 1-0 with a 17.55 ERA in five games with the Angels last season. He was 1-1 with an 8.68 ERA in six starts at Triple-A Salt Lake. He missed four months over two stints with an inflamed right elbow.
Lefty JA Happ, Yankees finalize $34 million, 2-year deal
NEW YORK (AP) — Left-hander J.A. Happ and the New York Yankees have finalized a $34 million, two-year contract.
Happ gets $17 million in each of the next two seasons, and his deal includes a $17 million option for 2021 that could become guaranteed is he has either 27 or more starts as a pitcher in 2020 or 165 or more innings that year.
He is projected to be part of a rotation that includes Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia and James Paxton, acquired from Seattle in a trade.
Ronald Torreyes traded from New York Yankees to Chicago Cubs
NEW YORK (AP) — Infielder Ronald Torreyes was traded from the New York Yankees to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named or $2.
The 26-year-old was designated for assignment Monday to clear a roster spot when the Yankees claimed right-hander Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. The trade was announced Wednesday.

Bridwell will start against Oakland on Friday, the team said Tuesday.
Angels acquire hard-throwing reliever Felix Pena from Cubs
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired right-handed reliever Felix Pena from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for cash or a player to be named later.
The Angels announced the deal Monday for Pena, who was designated for assignment by Chicago last week.
Los Angeles also designated left-hander Jason Gurka for assignment.
Bridwell, Paxton duel before Angels breakout, beat Mariners
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Angels and Mariners closed out the season with a pitchers' duel.
Parker Bridwell pitched seven scoreless innings in a showdown with James Paxton, Eric Young Jr. hit a three-run homer and Los Angeles beat Seattle 6-2 in the teams' season finale Sunday.
Paxton shut out Los Angeles for six innings, but Young homered off James Pazos during a six-run seventh inning.
"It always feels good to win," said Angels manager Mike Scioscia.
Trout homers, Pujols gets 100 RBIs as Angels top White Sox
CHICAGO (AP) — As slim as their playoff chances are, the fading Angels weren't ready to concede the race.
Mike Trout hit his 31st homer, Albert Pujols joined Alex Rodriguez as the only players with 100 RBIs in 14 seasons, and Los Angeles pounded the Chicago White Sox 9-3 on Tuesday night.
The Angels remained five games behind Minnesota for the final AL wild card with five to play. The Twins beat AL Central-leading Cleveland 8-6.

Upton hit two home runs, Parker Bridwell outpitched Cole Hamels and the Angels moved up in the AL wild-card race, beating the Texas Rangers 2-0 on Saturday night.
Los Angeles closed within one game of Minnesota for the second wild-card spot. The victory also prevented Houston from clinching the AL West, leaving the Astros' magic number at one over Los Angeles.
