CHICAGO (AP) — Cam Ward gave the Chicago Blackhawks exactly what they needed in the wake of another concussion for Corey Crawford.
He went back to work.
Ward made 30 saves Tuesday night, leading the Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.
"I thought our guys competed, worked hard all 60 minutes," Ward said. "Defensively, we didn't give them a whole lot. It's a credit to the guys for the way that they played. We kept it much more simple and executed."

CHICAGO (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens weren't pleased with how they played Sunday. They were just happy to get a win.
Tomas Tatar scored the tiebreaking goal on a deflection with 1:17 left in the third period and the Canadiens beat the Blackhawks 3-2 for their third straight win.
Max Domi and Shea Weber scored in the first period to give Montreal an early lead, but Patrick Kane connected twice to tie the score for Chicago, which has lost seven straight and nine of its last 10.
Johnson powers Lightning past Blackhawks 4-2
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Tyler Johnson, Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point were terrific for Tampa Bay.
The top line for the Lightning was much better than the leading trio for Chicago.
Johnson scored twice, Kucherov had three assists and the Lightning beat the Blackhawks 4-2 on Friday night.
Point and Ryan Callahan also scored for Tampa Bay, which improved to 13-0-2 in the past 15 regular-season meetings with Chicago. Louis Domingue stopped 30 shots.

CHICAGO (AP) — Cal Petersen returned to Chicago for a memorable first NHL start.
Petersen made 34 saves and stopped Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in a shootout, leading the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 victory over the Blackhawks on Friday night.
"Best feeling in the world," the 24-year-old Petersen said. "Obviously, the boys really battled hard for me.
"Just for it to end like that is really special. Probably the most fun hockey game of my life."
Canes hold on to beat Blackhawks 4-3, spoil Colliton’s debut
CHICAGO (AP) — Goals by Andrei Svechnikov, Jaccob Slavin, Phillip Di Giuseppe and Calvin de Haan gave Carolina a four-goal lead early in the second period and the Hurricanes held on for a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night that spoiled the NHL coaching debut of Jeremy Colliton.
Colliton became the 38th coach of the Blackhawks on Tuesday after Joel Quenneville was fired after 10 seasons with Chicago. Quenneville ranked second in NHL history with 890 regular-season victories.
