NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The legs were shot but the will was strong as Mark Scheifele notched the overtime winner for the Winnipeg Jets over the New Jersey Devils.
"I was pretty exhausted at the time, so I just wanted to get a shot off and was happy the rebound came to me," Scheifele said. "We didn't want to let our lead slip away, but we did get the win and we're happy with that."

DALLAS (AP) — Michael Hutchinson wasn't concerned when Dallas' Tyler Pitlick scored in the first 10 seconds of the Winnipeg goalie's first game in 25 days.
"The first goal's not that important," Hutchinson said. "We have 59 minutes and 50 seconds to come back and get another one. We were able to battle back."

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms on a $42 million, seven-year contract extension with forward Nikolaj Ehlers on Wednesday.
The extension begins a year from now and carries an average annual value of $6 million, the Jets said in a statement.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Winnipeg defenseman Toby Enstrom will be out indefinitely with a concussion, Jets coach Paul Maurice said Friday.
Enstrom took a crushing illegal check from behind into the boards by Pittsburgh forward Tom Sestito in the first period Wednesday night in the Jets' 7-4 loss to the Penguins. The NHL followed up Thursday by suspending Sestito for four games.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Jacob Trouba's bad-bounce goal was a big break for the Winnipeg Jets.
Trouba scored in the third on an unusual play, and the Jets beat the St. Louis Blues 5-3 on Tuesday night.
Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler each had a goal and two assists as Winnipeg improved to 12-4-1 within the Central Division and 3-0 against St. Louis. Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored, and Ondrej Pavelec made 24 saves.
Pavelec lifts Jets past Coyotes 6-3 in season debut
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Ondrej Pavelec was glad his long wait to get back to the NHL ended with a victory — even if it wasn't his best game.
The veteran goalie made 30 saves as the Winnipeg Jets halted a four-game losing streak Wednesday night, helped by goals from six players in a 6-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes.
Pavelec, 29, was sent to the American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose at the end of training camp, but Winnipeg recalled him Tuesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres used a big third period to slip past the Winnipeg Jets.
Brian Gionta scored Buffalo's third goal in a span of 4:46 of the third period and the Sabres overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Jets 4-3.
The Jets lost after winning the first two on a three-game trip. They also lost leading scorer Patrik Laine in the third period.
Ehlers has 2 goals, Jets beat Lightning 6-4
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets have struggled this season in the second period, and early on Tuesday night it looked like more of the same.
Then came an unexpected response after Tampa Bay tied things up.
Nikolaj Ehlers had two goals, including a penalty shot during Winnipeg's three-goal second period, and the Jets beat the Lightning 6-4 on Tuesday night.
"I like the very first shift after they scored the tying goal," Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said. "We got the momentum back."
