Oregon extends March run with 72-54 win over Wisconsin
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Oregon was stumbling toward the end of a disappointing season until a strong turnaround led the Ducks to the Pac-12 title and an NCAA Tournament bid.

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Defense was the key from start to finish for Oregon forcing 17 turnovers and limiting Washington State's top scorer.
Pritchard scores 20, Oregon hands Cal 11th straight loss
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — For one game at least, all was well in the basketball world for Oregon's Payton Pritchard.
The result was the second career double-double for the last remaining Duck from the Final Four run two years ago.
Pritchard had 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds to help Oregon outlast California 73-62 on Wednesday night.
Louis King added 12 points and Paul White and Kenny Wooten each had 11 for the Ducks (14-9, 5-5 Pac-12). Freshman Will Richardson had a season-high nine assists.
King, Wooten lead Oregon past Washington State 78-58
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A timely chalk talk with Bill Walton inspired Oregon's Kenny Wooten to check out the Hall of Famer's moves.
The video session then played a part in Wooten's best offensive game of the season for the struggling Ducks.
Louis King scored 13 of his 22 points in the second half and Wooten matched his career high with 20 to help Oregon rally past Washington State 78-58 on Sunday night.
Oregon cranks up defense to beat Arizona 59-54
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Oregon could feel the tide shifting. Arizona had found an offensive rhythm, the fans inside McKale Center rising and roaring with each made shot.
Unlike a week earlier, when they blew a seemingly-insurmountable lead against UCLA, the Ducks turned back the charge and earned a win in one of college basketball's toughest environments.
White scores 16, Oregon holds off Arizona 59-54
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Paul White scored 16 points and Victor Bailey Jr. added 13, helping Oregon hold off Arizona 59-54 Thursday night.
The once-fast Ducks have had to slow down in recent games due to a string of injuries, relying on their defense rather than outscoring opponents.
Oregon (11-6, 2-2 Pac-12) got Kenny Wooten back after missing four games with a broken jaw, though he played limited minutes and star freshman Bol Bol was on the bench in a walking boot.
King, White help Oregon snap skid, beat USC 81-60
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's defensive benchmark for success is to hold its opponent to fewer than 70 points.
It also doesn't hurt when the Ducks produce their most efficient offensive game of the season, either.
Paul White and Louis King each scored 19 points as Oregon raced past Southern California 81-60 on Sunday night.
The Ducks scored on 35 of 62 possessions and shot 29 of 52 (55.8 percent), only the third time in 16 games they've made more than half their shots and the first in eight games.
Oregon tops Florida A&M behind Bailey’s 16 points
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A matinee start seemed to catch the wrong team off its game with no excuses.
Fortunately for Oregon, there was enough that went right between falling behind by eight points early and giving up 13 straight at the end for the Ducks to claim a season-high fourth consecutive win.
Victor Bailey Jr. scored 16 points in his first start and Oregon finished a sweep of its four-game homestand by outlasting Florida A&M 71-64 on Tuesday.
Oregon beats Boise State 66-54 without leader Bol Bol
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon took its first game without Bol Bol pretty much in stride.
Just how tall an order it might be playing without the 7-foot-2 freshman star for an extended time wasn't something coach Dana Altman wished to address.
Payton Pritchard had 19 points and five rebounds as Oregon overcame Bol's absence to race past Boise State 66-54 on Saturday night.
"It's a lower leg injury," said Altman, who fended off all inquiries about Bol with the same response. "We'll take it day by day."
Bol Bol’s double-double leads No. 14 Oregon over E. Wash.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Playing alongside highly touted freshman Bol Bol comes with benefits for Oregon's other post players.
"It's been pretty natural trying to adjust, because I can't get all the rebounds," Kenny Wooten said.
Bol had 23 points and 12 rebounds as No 14 Oregon rode its stifling defense to an 81-47 victory over Eastern Washington on Friday night.
Pritchard helps No. 14 Oregon beat Portland State 84-57
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's first game drew mixed reviews from coach Dana Altman.
The performances by returning starters Payton Pritchard and Paul White were right on cue, but the rest of the Ducks showed some rough spots that need work, especially under the boards.
Pritchard scored 22 points while White added 15 and No. 14 Oregon opened its season by routing Portland State 84-57 victory Tuesday night.
"We took a step in the right direction," Altman said. "It just wasn't smooth the way we like.
Last season: 23-13, eliminated in the second round of the NIT.

Pritchard, White help Oregon hold off Washington 72-64
SEATTLE (AP) — Fortunately for the Oregon Ducks, when their offense suddenly disappeared their defense stepped up.
Payton Pritchard scored 14 points and Paul White added 13 as Oregon turned back a late rally by Washington to preserve a 72-64 victory on Saturday to end the Pac-12 Conference regular season.
Washington, which trailed 44-29 at the half, used a 9-2 run to pull within 68-64 with 3:12 remaining, but failed to score the rest of the way.
Brown has 19, Ducks blank Holder, beat Sun Devils 75-68
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon's secret to success still comes down to simple plays.
When the Ducks make them, they usually earn coach Dana Altman's seal of approval.
Elijah Brown had 19 points and seven rebounds, and MiKyle McIntosh added 16 points to lead Oregon past Arizona State 75-68 on Thursday night.
Paul White had 11 points for the Ducks (18-10, 8-7 Pac-12), who beat the Sun Devils (19-8, 7-8) for the eighth consecutive time and moved into a tie for sixth in the conference standings.
Paul White’s commentary on his first season playing at Oregon has never wavered.
“You guys know me, I’m positive,” the junior transfer from Georgetown told a couple of beat writers after Oregon ‘s 86-78 overtime loss at UCLA on Saturday. “You wake up the next day, you can improve tremendously.”
Then White became the ultimate optimist.
“Some people hit the lottery and improve their financial status just like that,” he said. “The sky is the limit, we just have to understand our potential.”
LOS ANGELES — Frustration wasn’t the right word to describe the emotion in Oregon’s locker room, Paul White said Saturday.
“It’s just tough to know we’re one step away from getting over that hump,” the Oregon junior forward said after UCLA beat the Ducks 86-78 in overtime at Pauley Pavilion. “Frustration comes with failure and that sort of thing. We take everything as a lesson to use as a steppingstone to get where we need to be.”
LOS ANGELES — Paul White knew the sting of a last-second loss would linger.
Oregon was looking forward to overtime as an extended opportunity to beat USC and move into sole possession of third place in the Pac-12 Conference on Thursday.
Instead, Jordan McLaughlin found Chimezie Metu for a basket with 0.8 seconds left to lift the Trojans to a 72-70 victory over Oregon, which dropped into a three-way tie for fifth in the conference at 7-6.
Stanford routs Oregon 96-61 shooting 62.5% from the field
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Dorian Pickens thought only of being aggressive and let the chips fall. He was nearly perfect.
Pickens scored 25 points, making five 3-pointers, and Stanford handed Oregon its worst loss of the Dana Altman era, beating the Ducks 96-61 Saturday.
KZ Okpala added 20 points for the Cardinal (13-11, 7-4 Pac-12), who won their second straight and seventh in 10 games. Reid Travis added 17 points.
BERKELEY, Calif. — Dana Altman pointed out the opportunities ahead for Oregon to boost its postseason résumé.
“Seven of our 10 games left are against top-100 teams and five top-50,” the coach said. “We don’t have enough good wins, but we’re going to have plenty of chances.”
Oregon takes down Oregon St. 66-57 behind Brown’s 20 pts
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A dominant first half was enough to give Oregon the outcome it was looking for in its rematch with Oregon State.
It also let the Ducks avoid their first Civil War sweep by the Beavers in eight years.
Elijah Brown scored 20 points and Paul White had 17 off the bench to help lead Oregon to a 66-57 victory over Oregon State on Saturday night.
Oregon received more than half of its offense from its three seniors during last week’s trip to Arizona.
Elijah Brown shared top scoring honors with 18 points in Thursday’s 76-72 win over No. 11 Arizona State and led the Ducks with 25 in a 90-83 loss at No. 17 Arizona on Saturday. MiKyle McIntosh had his best back-to-back performances with 12 points and 13 rebounds against the Sun Devils, followed by 20 points and seven rebounds in a loss to the Wildcats.
Oregon got a total of 17 points from its bench during the first two Pac-12 games. Paul White nearly matched that total against Oregon State.
The 6-foot-9 junior came off the bench for the third time this season and had his best all-around performance with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 76-64 loss to the Beavers that knocked the Ducks (11-5) to 1-2 in conference play.
Tinkle scores 19 with 12 boards; Oregon State beats Oregon
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle said he challenged his team during halftime of a Civil War matchup to pick up the intensity and get more aggressive.
"They took it to the court and they were not going to be denied and that's what really makes me proud," he added.
Tinkle's son Tres Tinkle had 19 points, 12 rebounds and five assists as Oregon State took control of the game in the second half to beat archrival Oregon 76-64 on Friday night.
Dana Altman is still determining rotations on his roster and that could be even more challenging against Oregon State.
Roman Sorkin is questionable to play in the Civil War on Friday night in Corvallis as he continues to battle a leg injury, and top reserves Paul White and Victor Bailey have been sick this week.
“We’re fighting sickness like everyone this time of year with guys missing practice, but it’s time to play,” Altman said on Thursday.
M.J. Cage knew his opportunity had arrived.
With Paul White sitting out because of a concussion, Cage spent more time than ever on the court and scored a career-high 11 points to help Oregon beat Central Arkansas 96-82 Wednesday night in front of 6,908 at Matthew Knight Arena.
Kenny Wooten will make his first start against Central Arkansas.
If his current pace of production continues, Dana Altman may have a hard time returning the 6-foot-9 freshman to a reserve role.
Wooten has scored in double figures in four consecutive games and blocked six shots in back-to-back victories as he prepares to replace Paul White in the starting lineup on Wednesday night, when the Ducks (9-3) host the Bears (6-6) at 8 p.m.
Brown’s 22 helps Oregon hold off Portland State 95-84
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Elijah Brown heard about the one that got away and kept his Oregon teammate from his first triple-double.
Finding out that his missed layup kept Troy Brown from the first such feat by a Duck in 15 years didn't help.
"Man, makes me feel even better, thank you," Elijah Brown said. "He'll have more opportunities, though, so be on the watch because I'm not missing that again."
Ducks find their footingin second half to blast Rams
Oregon led Colorado State 38-32 at halftime.
Then they outscored the Rams by 24 in the second half.
The difference wasn’t a halftime adjustment, Payton Pritchard insisted, just execution.
“What got us started was getting easy points in the paint,” the Oregon sophomore point guard said after the Ducks beat the Rams 95-65 Friday night in front of 7,153 at Matthew Knight Arena. “Easy buckets got the flow in our favor, and we were just clicking.”
Troy Brown is expected to return when Oregon hosts Colorado State Friday at 7 p.m.
The 6-foot-7 freshman missed Oregon’s 73-70 home loss to Boise State on Friday due to a concussion suffered on Nov. 26 against Oklahoma. He was cleared to return to practice this week, according to a school spokesman.
Brown started the first seven games for Oregon and leads the Ducks with 7.1 rebounds per game while also averaging 11.7 points, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals.
It took a half-court shot to end the nation’s longest home-court winning streak.
With a foot on the midcourt stripe, Boise State’s Lexus Williams launched a shot in the final second that found the net to give the Broncos a 73-70 victory over Oregon on Friday night in front of a stunned crowd of 7,688 at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon’s 46-game home winning streak, which began on Jan. 10, 2015, ended just about one month before its three-year anniversary.
Oregon beats Prairie View 100-67 for 44th straight home win
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Troy Brown, Oregon's five-star freshman, already has learned that giving up the AAU flash for a simple play makes college basketball a lot easier and the coach of the Ducks much happier.
Brown had 17 points and nine rebounds, Paul White came off the bench for 16 points and Oregon pulled away to a 100-67 victory over Prairie View A&M on Monday night.
