FRENCH LICK, Ind. (AP) — Laura Davies won the Senior LPGA Championship on Wednesday at chilly and windy French Lick Resort to sweep the two senior major events of the year.
Davies birdied the final hole for a 2-under 70 and a four-stroke victory over Helen Alfredsson and Silvia Cavalleri. Still active on the LPGA Tour, the 55-year-old Englishwoman won the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open by 10 strokes in July at Chicago Golf Club.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. (AP) — Laura Davies recovered from a pair of early bogeys Tuesday for a 2-under 70 that gave her a two-shot lead going into the final round of the Senior LPGA Championship as she goes for a second senior major.
In slightly warmer weather on The Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort, the 55-year-old Davies played bogey-free over the last 11 holes and was at 6-under 138. Brandi Burton had a 66, the best score of the tournament, and was two shots behind.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. (AP) — Laura Davies opened with a 4-under 68 despite finishing with two bogeys Monday, giving her a one-shot lead over Juli Inkster after one round of the Senior LPGA Championship.
Davies, who earlier this year won the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open, had a lost ball on the par-5 18th hole on The Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort. She still salvaged a bogey in chilly, windy weather that had the 55-year-old from England bundled up in a blanket between shots.

Andrew Landry tops crowded CareerBuilder leaderboard
LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) — CareerBuilder Challenge leader Andrew Landry was quick to point out the windy forecast.
After two perfect days for scoring, wind at 15-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph was expected Saturday with the temperature only reaching the mid-60s after coming close to 80 on Friday.
And Landry and five others in the top nine were headed up the hill to PGA West's once-feared, Pete Dye-designed Stadium Course for the weekend.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Si Woo Kim won The Players Championship and the mystery deepened.
Not because of any number, whether it was his age (21), his world ranking (75) or his position in the FedEx Cup (132) going into the week. Ian Poulter could have won and it would have made just as much sense, which at the TPC Sawgrass means no sense at all.
One of the popular adages in golf is there are horses for courses.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — With apologies to Portugal, the only significant golf this week is on the site of a former swamp.
The Players Championship starts Thursday on the TPC Sawgrass, which offers a $10.5 million purse — even the runner-up gets over $1.1 million — a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour, a three-year exemption to the Masters and British Open and plenty of frustration when something goes wrong.
