Powell, Seton Hall thwarts late Rutgers rally, 72-66
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Myles Powell spent the last year growing irritated hearing how Rutgers was the best college basketball team in the Garden State. That won't be the case for the New Jersey native in 2019.
Powell had a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers to lead Seton Hall past Rutgers 72-66 in the Garden State Hardwood Classic Saturday.
Omoruyi double-doubles, Rutgers tops Fairleigh Dickinson
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Peter Kiss couldn't sleep the last couple of nights. Not with the anticipation of his first collegiate basketball game in a year and a half.
But he didn't look tired, Friday, scoring a game-high 17 points in his Rutgers debut. Eugene Omoruyi had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson 90-55 Wednesday night.
Johnson leads OT charge in Fairfield’s victory
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Jerry Johnson scored eight of his 19 points in overtime to lead Fairfield to an 89-86 victory over Quinnipiac on Friday night.
Johnson's floater gave Fairfield (14-11, 9-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic) an 87-82 lead with 1:23 left in overtime. Chaise Daniels' dunk with 38 seconds remaining got Quinnipiac (10-17, 7-10) within 88-86 but Peter Kiss turned the ball over and Johnson added a free throw with three seconds left before Kiss missed a long 3-point try.

Quinnipiac holds off Niagara 89-81 behind Daniels, Kiss
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Chaise Daniels scored 24 points, Peter Kiss set career highs with 23 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, and Quinnipiac held off Niagara 89-81 on Saturday night to end a three-game skid.
The Bobcats led by 28 points early in the second half, but Niagara closed to 79-70 on Kahlil Dukes' free throw with 3:43 left while Quinnipiac went without a field goal for 5:04. The Purple Eagles closed to within six but got no closer.
Long, Ogunyemi combine for 51 points, Siena beats Quinnipiac
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Javion Ogunyemi scored a season-high 25 points on 12-of-14 shooting, Lavon Long had 26 points, a career-best 16 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocked shots and Siena beat Quinnipiac 84-75 on Monday night.
Brett Bisping added 17 points with 14 boards for Siena (10-13, 7-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which shot 53 percent, and never trailed after halftime.
Robinson, Seaborn lead Monmouth (NJ) past Quinnipiac, 95-76
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Justin Robinson scored 22 points, Micah Seaborn hit four 3-pointers and finished with 21 points, and Monmouth beat Quinnipiac 95-76 on Friday night.
Collin Stewart added 13 points for Monmouth (17-5, 9-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which has won seven in a row.
Dixon, Quinnipiac hold off Canisius 95-90
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Mikey Dixon had 18 of his 29 points in the first half and Quinnipiac held on after the break to beat Canisius 95-90 on Friday night.
Dixon set a program record for points by a freshman and his 3-pointer with 45 seconds left gave the Bobcats (8-11, 5-4 Metro) an 89-82 lead. The Golden Griffins (12-8, 5-4) didn't get back within a basket until Kassius Robertson's basket with two seconds left made it 93-90.
Quinnipiac prevails 97-91 over Iona in OT
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Mikey Dixon scored a career-high 27 points as Quinnipiac prevailed 97-91 over Iona in overtime on Saturday.
Chaise Daniels added 22 points and Peter Kiss and Donovan Smith had 15 points apiece for the Bobcats (6-11, 3-4 MAAC)).
In the overtime period, a Reggie Oliver 3-pointer capped a 10-1 start for the Bobcats that also included a dunk by Smith and Quinnipiac led 87-78. Kiss sank another 3 to make it 91-80 with 1:16 to go and the Bobcats led the rest of the way.
Siena holds off late Quinnipiac rally in 81-74 win
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Brett Bisping scored 19 points and corralled 15 rebounds as Siena held on late to beat Quinnipiac 81-74 on Thursday night.
Javion Ogunyemi also finished with 19 points while Marquis Wright added 18 for the Saints (6-11, 3-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who are 7-2 against the Bobcats since they joined the MAAC.
Siena is 6-1 at home, but has lost all 10 of its road games this season.
Dixon, Kiss spark Quinnipiac in 81-72 win over Manhattan.
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Mikey Dixon scored 23 points and Peter Kiss has a career high 20 points to lead Quinnipiac to an 81-72 win over Manhattan on Saturday.
Donovan Smith added 11 points and had a school record seven blocked shots for Quinnipiac (6-9, 3-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic). Reggie Oliver finished with 12 points in the win.
Quinnipiac takes down Hampton 99-79 behind Harris’ 16 points
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Daniel Harris scored 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting and Mikey Dixon had 17 points and seven assists as Quinnipiac thumped Hartford 99-79 on Wednesday.
Donovan Smith added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Phil Winston passed out 10 assists for Quinnipiac (3-5).
Daniels leads Quinnipiac over Marist 77-63
HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Chaise Daniels scored 17 points with four steals and Quinnipiac knocked off Marist 77-63 on Sunday.
Daniels was 6 of 11 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line. Mikey Dixon scored 14 points and Peter Kiss added 13 points with nine rebounds. The Bobcats (2-5, 1-1 Metro Atlantic) shot 45 percent overall.
Marist (4-5, 1-1) was led by Ryan Funk with 23 points and Khallid Hart with 18.
