Coach Phil Housley didn't reveal the nature of the injury except to list Eichel as day to day ahead of Buffalo's home game against Florida on Thursday. Eichel will miss Buffalo's game at Boston on Saturday before having the injury re-evaluated.
He's been out since aggravating the injury in the first period of a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Monday.
Sabres center Eichel ruled out after leaving in 1st period
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres say captain Jack Eichel went to the dressing room in the first period of Monday's game against the New York Islanders and will not return.
It's unclear what caused Eichel to leave the game.
Eichel was designated as a game-time decision by coach Phil Housley following Buffalo's morning skate. But the center started and played four shifts totaling 2:42 in the first period. Eichel also sat out Sunday's practice.
Sabres’ Berglund clears waivers; contract will be terminated
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres are set to terminate the remaining three-and-a-half seasons of Patrik Berglund's contract after the forward cleared 24-hour waivers.
The Sabres waived Berglund on Wednesday after suspending him for failing to report to the team for its road game at Washington on Saturday.
Berglund missed five games, including two last week when coach Phil Housley said the player was sidelined by an illness.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres have placed suspended forward Patrik Berglund on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
The team declined further comment in announcing the move Wednesday. Berglund was suspended by Sabres on Saturday for failing to report to the team for its road game at Washington.
He missed the team's last five games, including two last week when coach Phil Housley said Berglund was sidelined by an illness.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres are sending Matt Hunwick to the minors on a rehabilitation assignment in the veteran defenseman's next step in recovering from a neck injury he sustained last summer.

Smith was a three-time Stanley Cup winner in Edmonton during a 16-year career, also playing for the Blackhawks and Flames. He has nine years of experience as an NHL assistant, including the past four in Carolina.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Buffalo coach Phil Housley says Victor Antipin is doing good but the Sabres will know more Sunday about the defenseman who was taken off the ice on a stretcher to a local hospital.
"As far as I know, he's doing well right now," Housley said Saturday night after Buffalo's 7-4 win over Nashville. "He went to the hospital, that's all I know right now. I haven't talked to our doctors or trainers."

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Robin Lehner always enjoys playing against his former team. Picking up a 4-3 shootout win over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday made it that much more enjoyable.
Lehner stopped two of three shooters in the shootout to improve to 6-0-3 against the Senators since being traded to the Sabres in 2015.
"We needed this win and it was a pretty fun game," said Lehner, who made 37 saves.
