QB Hogan, WR Quick, DL Taylor cut by Redskins to get to 53
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Third-string quarterback Kevin Hogan, receiver Brian Quick and defensive lineman Phil Taylor were among the players the Washington Redskins cut to get down to the 53-man roster limit.
Among the other moves made Saturday by Washington were putting guard Tyler Catalina on injured reserve and defensive end Stacy McGee on the physically unable to perform list.
The team kept five running backs, including fumble-prone Samaje Perine, while Kapri Bibbs was released.

The Redskins announced Tuesday that they are bringing back the 6-foot-3, 343-pound Taylor.
Taylor, who turns 30 on Saturday, needed season-ending surgery last year after tearing his left quadriceps tendon in a preseason game for Washington. He had been slated to start at nose tackle.

Shorter senior guard Phil Taylor has had big nights before for the Hawks’ basketball team, but never one like he had this week.
Helping his team take on the Carver College Cougars, Taylor broke the Gulf South Conference’s single-game scoring record with 62 points in a 109-86 win Monday.
Prior to Monday night, the GSC record stood at 51 points, set during the 1991-92 season by Floyd Patterson of West Alabama.
