2 mule deer poached in southwest Wyoming
PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is investigating the poaching of two mule deer south of Pinedale.
The agency says a buck and doe are believed to have been killed over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend off the Big Sandy Elkhorn Road in Sublette County in deer hunt area 130. All mule deer hunting in the area closed on Oct. 31.
The head of the buck mule deer was removed and meat from both deer was left in the field to waste.

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — The number of firefighters working to contain a wildfire in western Wyoming is being reduced as rain is helping to put a damper on the fire.
The fire in Sublette County is now 85 percent contained after burning 55 homes and some 96 square miles (249 square kilometers) south of Bondurant since it was started Sept. 15 by an abandoned warming fire.

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — Weather that is turning cooler and wetter is helping firefighters working to contain a wildfire in western Wyoming that has destroyed 55 homes.
Rain was expected to fall Tuesday on the fire that has burned some 96 square miles (249 square kilometers) south of Bondurant since it was started Sept. 15 by someone's abandoned warming fire.
U.S. 189/191 is open and power has been restored to parts of Hoback Ranches, where many of the burned homes are located.

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters in western Wyoming say a wildfire that has destroyed 55 homes and forced the evacuation of about 500 rural residents was caused by an abandoned warming fire that had been left unattended.
The fire has burned about 90 square miles (233.1 sq. kilometers) since it was first reported Sept. 15. Firefighters reported Saturday that it was about 40 percent contained and remains south of a highway that leads to the Jackson Hole region.

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters are battling a wildfire that has burned 55 homes and blackened about 80 square miles (207 square kilometers) in western Wyoming.
Sublette County sheriff's officials said Thursday the blaze was 35 percent contained, and crews were working to prevent it from jumping U.S. Highway 191 and threatening additional structures.
All of the homes that were burned were near Bondurant in the Hoback Ranches development, which was comprised of 150 residences.
Fires in western Wyoming force more evacuations
JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A wildfire in western Wyoming has forced more evacuations of rural subdivisions, and the dry, windy weather conditions conducive to fire growth are expected to continue through Wednesday.
About a half dozen fires are burning in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The largest has burned nearly 8 square miles (20.7 square kilometers) since it started last weekend.
2 grizzly bears relocated in Wyoming

CODY, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has trapped and relocated a sub-adult male grizzly bear that was killing cattle.
The agency says the bear that was captured on Tuesday had killed cattle on a U.S. Forest Service grazing allotment north of Pinedale.
The bear was moved to a remote area of the Shoshone National Forest northwest of Crandall, which is located in the Cody region.
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management has released the final environmental impact statement for a proposed natural gas project in western Wyoming.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports that a final decision on whether to approve the project is expected in 30 days.
PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — A motorcycle crash in western Wyoming has left a 28-year-old Casper man dead and a 23-year-old Pinedale woman injured.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol identified the deceased as Jake Byers, who was driving the motorcycle. The injured passenger has been identified as Katrina Dohrmann.
The patrol says the crash occurred Saturday on a county road near Pinedale.
Vanguard may spend $26 million drilling in Colorado

Vanguard Natural Resources says its Piceance (PEE'-ants) Basin holdings south of Silt are one of its three core growth assets that it has identified, with the others including the Pinedale field in Wyoming.
