New roadway on elevated Bayonne Bridge set for full opening
BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) — The main, four-lane roadway on the elevated Bayonne Bridge is scheduled to open Monday, marking another milestone in the nearly six-year, $1.7 billion project that has opened New Jersey's ports to larger cargo ships.
Since February 2017, motorists have used one lane in each direction on the upper span connecting New Jersey and Staten Island. Starting Monday, they'll have the use of two lanes in each direction and added shoulders.
Newark Airport parking garage fire damages numerous vehicles
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A parking garage fire at Newark Liberty International Airport that damaged more than a dozen vehicles has been extinguished.
Authorities say the fire began at shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday on the rooftop of the garage for the airport's Terminal C.
Seventeen cars were damaged. The fire sent flames and heavy black smoke spewing into the air. No injuries have been reported.
