Kentucky guard Quade Green to transfer
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Sophomore guard Quade Green has announced he will transfer from the University of Kentucky.
A release from the university says Green notified the team of his decision on Wednesday. The Philadelphia native will be able to transfer to any school without any restrictions.
Green played in 43 games for the Wildcats over two seasons, averaging 9.0 points and 2.6 assists.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — These early weeks haven't been easy for No. 10 Kentucky, but coach John Calipari sees an upside in how his team is working through growing pains to win.
Perimeter defense will no doubt be a focal point for improvement after Bubba Parham nearly shot VMI past the Wildcats.
Quade Green came off the bench to score a season-high 17 points, including five in the final 90 seconds, to help Kentucky hold off the Keydets 92-82 on Sunday night.

No. 23 Kentucky pulls away from Mississippi 96-78
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky has followed a four-game slide with four consecutive wins featuring some of its best play this season along with the poise that was missing during the slump.
The No. 23 Wildcats had all of those aspects come together late to beat Mississippi for a victory coach John Calipari suggested his young team had to win.
Kentucky beats Alabama 81-71 behind Washington’s 16 points
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Four straight losses were enough for Kentucky.
PJ Washington scored 16 points, Kevin Knox added 13, and Kentucky beat Alabama 81-71 on Saturday to end a four-game slide.
"They played desperately," Kentucky coach John Calipari said. "We gave away some games this year and we have to start taking games away from people, which means desperation."
No. 21 Kentucky beats Vanderbilt 83-81 in overtime
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — After No. 21 Kentucky rallied to force overtime against Vanderbilt, guard Quade Green wasn't surprised he was able to split through two defenders to make the winning basket.
"I just saw an open layup," said Green, whose layup with five seconds left in overtime gave the Wildcats an 83-81 win over the Commodores on Tuesday night.
"I saw the big man was at the top of the key, so he wasn't guarding the row."
G Quade Green out for No. 21 Kentucky against Texas A&M
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky freshman Quade Green has been ruled out for its game against Texas A&M because of a back strain.
The No. 21 Wildcats announced Green's injury right before tipoff Tuesday night. The school says the point guard will be evaluated daily.
Fellow freshman Shai Gilgeous-Alexander replaced Green in the starting lineup against the Aggies.
Knox, Diallo lead No. 8 Kentucky past Virginia Tech 93-86
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Needing every point possible to compete with high-scoring Virginia Tech, No. 8 Kentucky got offense from all over the court off numerous opportunities created by a disruptive defense.
Kevin Knox scored 21 points, Hamidou Diallo added 20, including a big 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining, and the Wildcats outlasted Virginia Tech 93-86 on Saturday for their most significant victory this season.
No. 7 Kentucky cruises past East Tennessee State, 78-61
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Putting away an opponent for once doesn't mean Kentucky's young roster is turning the corner toward maturity.
The seventh-ranked Wildcats had promising moments against East Tennessee State to offset play that frustrated coach John Calipari.
Quade Green scored a career-high 21 points, Kevin Knox had 17 points with 10 rebounds and Kentucky overcame an early deficit to run away from the Buccaneers 78-61 on Friday night.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Quade Green downplays talk of being Kentucky's starting point guard despite making a strong case for the job.
The 6-foot freshman pushed the fast pace that coach John Calipari wanted during the preseason, fed Wildcat teammates with accurate passes and shot well. Most notably, he's showing the stamina and durability needed for the position critical to executing Calipari's offense.
