McKenna becomes Flyers’ 7th goalie as Philly ties NHL record
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Philadelphia Flyers tied an NHL record with Mike McKenna becoming their seventh goaltender to play this season.
McKenna started against the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on Tuesday night and allowed four goals on 25 shots in a 5-3 loss . He got the nod because interim coach Scott Gordon wanted to give top goaltending prospect Carter Hart a break after playing twice in three days.
Semyon Varlamov makes 43 saves, Avs beat Canadiens 2-0
DENVER (AP) — Semyon Varlamov rescued Colorado's struggling offense with a stellar performance against Montreal.
Varlamov made 43 saves for his first victory in more than a month and the Avalanche matched the franchise record of 10 straight home wins, beating the Canadiens 2-0 on Wednesday night.
Carl Soderberg and Alexander Kerfoot scored to help Colorado equal the longest home winning streak in franchise history, set in 1994-95 when the team was the Quebec Nordiques.
Eric Lindros finds peace in reconciling with past
Eric Lindros was as surprised as everyone else in the audience when a French-Canadian television talk show co-host presented him with a No. 88 Quebec Nordiques jersey.
With the cameras rolling, Lindros pulled the former NHL franchise's blue, red and white colors over his head without reservation and smiled.
