Rask stops 31 shots, Bruins edge Sabres 2-1
BOSTON (AP) — Chris Wagner and David Backes scored, Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots and the Boston Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 Saturday night for their fourth straight victory.
Boston won three of four games in the season series against Buffalo.
Rask was looking for his first shutout of the season, but former Bruins' defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen beat him with a wrist shot on the glove side with 2:38 left in regulation.
Wagner, Backes score in Bruins’ 2-1 win over Sabres
BOSTON (AP) — Chris Wagner had an extra reason to smile when he scored a goal after his first one was disallowed.
"My grandfather passed away yesterday morning, so this was a special game for me. Maybe he was watching out for me, having the puck follow me around," the forward said after the Boston Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on Saturday night.
"He was probably laughing after that first goal was disallowed," he said.

Evgenii Dadonov had two goals and an assist, including the go-ahead tally on a penalty shot, as the Panthers scored three quick goals to open the final period and picked up their seventh straight win over the Sabres, 5-2 on Tuesday night. Florida had previously been outscored 42-23 in the third period, the worst margin in the NHL.

Jeff Skinner scored his team-leading 19th goal 1:19 into overtime, and the Sabres won their 10th straight by beating the San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Rasmus Ristolainen scored off a deke around Brent Burns, and Nathan Beaulieu also scored for Buffalo, which hasn't lost since Nov. 4.

By the time the Sabres could recover, the Avalanche built what proved to be an insurmountable lead in hanging on for a 5-4 victory.

Sabres center O’Reilly out after having appendectomy
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres top-line center Ryan O'Reilly is out indefinitely after having his appendix removed during the NHL's holiday break this past weekend.
The team announced the news Tuesday, after the Sabres traveled to Detroit for their game against the Red Wings.
Without providing details, the Sabres said the appendectomy was successful and there is no timetable for O'Reilly's return.
