WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — An August dedication is planned for a statue of famed science fiction writer Ray Bradbury in his hometown of Waukegan.
Group raising money for Ray Bradbury statue nears its goal
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A group raising money for a 12-foot-tall (3.7-meter-tall) statue honoring author Ray Bradbury has almost reached its goal.
The Lake County News-Sun reports the statue could be erected outside the Waukegan Public Library by next summer.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Ray Bradbury won over generations of readers to science fiction with "Fahrenheit 451" and other works during a writing career that spanned much of the 20th Century and produced a mountain of manuscripts, correspondence and memorabilia.
That sprawling collection, much of which Bradbury's family donated after his death in 2012 at age 91, is now entering a long-running preservation project at its home on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.

University of Kansas gifted 700 signed celebrity portraits
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — A University of Kansas professor is giving more than 700 autographed portraits of celebrities to one of the school's libraries.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports (http://bit.ly/2fJdDQV ) associate film and media studies professor John Tibbetts will give the portraits to the Kenneth Spencer Research Library.
Tibbetts interviewed celebrities through his work as a professor and radio and television broadcaster.
