Louisiana-Lafayette rushes past Georgia State in 2nd half
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Raymond Calais and Elijah Mitchell each rushed for 100-plus yards, with Calais scoring three times, and Louisiana-Lafayette used a big fourth quarter to beat Georgia State 36-22 on Saturday.
Calais broke a 47-year old program record in the first quarter with a 92-yard touchdown run. The long run opened the scoring and Andre Nunez connected with Ryheem Malone from 32-yards out on their next possession for a 13-0 lead.
Ragas’ late TD wins it for Louisiana-Lafayette 47-43
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Trey Ragas ran for the winning score and Louisiana-Lafayette beat Arkansas State 47-43 on Saturday night.
The Ragin' Cajuns (4-4, 3-1 Sun Belt) trailed 43-40 when Ragas capped an 11-play, 55-yard drive with a 4-yard run to give them a 47-43 edge with 1:18 to play. The defense shut down the Redwolves (4-4, 1-3) after that to preserve the win.
Andre Nunez threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Raymond Calais ran for 121 yards and a score.
Coastal Carolina tops Louisiana-Lafayette 30-28
LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — Marcus Outlow ran for 96 yards and two scores and Coastal Carolina held off Louisiana-Lafayette 30-28 on Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference opener.
Bryce Carpenter, 5 of 5 for 82 yards, hit Isiah Likely on a 29-yard TD pass for a 30-21 Coastal Carolina lead, but the Ragin' Cajuns scored on their next drive, a 15-yard TD pass from Andre Nunez to Keenan Barnes with 5:20 left to play.
