Local surgeon receives diversity award
A local surgeon has been recognized for his efforts to diversify the field of orthopaedic surgery and empower African-American and female medical students.
Dr. Richard E. Grant has received the 2017 Diversity Award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The AAOS is the world’s largest medical association of musculoskeletal specialists.
Grant was recognized this month during the organization’s annual conference held in San Diego.

‘Wolverine’ sequel ‘Logan’ to premiere at Berlin film fest
BERLIN (AP) — "Logan," the third movie focusing on Hugh Jackman's Marvel superhero Wolverine, is to premiere at next month's Berlin International Film Festival.
The film, directed by James Mangold, sees the aging Logan set out on a last adventure to protect a young girl with special powers in a post-apocalyptic world.
Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor X, while Richard E. Grant plays the villain Zander Rice.
