TOKYO (AP) — Third-seeded Kei Nishikori beat Richard Gasquet 7-6 (2), 6-1 Saturday to reach the final of the Japan Open.
Nishikori won 84 per cent of first-serve points in front of a home crowd and did not face a break point in the 90-minute win over his eighth-seeded opponent.
Nishikori, who has not won an ATP World Tour title since Memphis in 2016, will face Daniil Medvedev in Sunday's final.

METZ, France (AP) — Top-seeded Kei Nishikori reached the quarterfinals of the Moselle Open by beating defending champion Peter Gojowczyk of Germany, 7-6 (4), 6-3 on Wednesday.
Gojowczyk earned his maiden ATP title in Metz last year but couldn't save either of the two break points he faced against Nishikori, which was enough for the Japanese player to wrap up the win in 1 hour, 33 minutes.
Davis Cup: Already out, Spain salvages pride against France
LILLE, France (AP) — In a contest with nothing at stake except pride, Marcel Granollers of Spain defeated Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 6-7 (2), 6-3, 13-11 in the final singles match of their Davis Cup semifinal on Sunday.
France sealed its spot in the final on Saturday when Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut won the doubles to give the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead.

TOKYO (AP) — David Goffin and Marin Cilic reached the semifinals of the Japan Open in contrasting styles on Friday.
Goffin recovered from a 5-2 deficit in the first set and won 10 of the next 11 games to beat Richard Gasquet 7-5, 6-2. The top-seeded Cilic defeated Ryan Harrison 6-2, 6-0.
