MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota forward Eric Curry will miss four to six weeks after knee surgery.
Coach Richard Pitino announced Monday that Curry's surgery went as planned. The 6-foot-9 sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee, redshirted the 2017-18 season after tearing the ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee during a summer pickup game. As a freshman, Curry played in all 34 games in a reserve role and was third on the team in rebounds and blocks.

Gophers men’s basketball lands Vanderbilt transfer Payton Willis
Former Vanderbilt mens basketball guard Payton Willis committed to the Gophers on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-4 Willis will sit out the 2018-19 season, per transfer rules. But he will have two years of eligibility remaining.
As a sophomore this season, Willis averaged 5.1 points in 18.5 minutes while playing in 31 games. He averaged 5.2 points in 17.5 minutes in 35 games in 2016-17, including 12 starts as a freshman.

Jeter was an assistant at UNLV the last two years. He was in charge at Milwaukee for 11 seasons, taking the Panthers to the NCAA Tournament twice and winning 20-plus games five times. Jeter was an assistant at Wisconsin for Bo Ryan for four years before that. He played for Ryan at Wisconsin-Platteville and won the 1991 NCAA Division III title there.

Gophers men’s basketball coach Richard Pitino will hire former Wisconsin-Milwaukee head coach Rob Jeter to fill his vacant assistant coaching position, sources told the Star Tribune on Monday.
Jeter, an assistant at Nevada Las Vegas since 2016, compiled a 184-170 record as Milwaukee coach from 2005-2016, including two NCAA tournament berths, two Horizon League tournament and regular season titles.
Jamir Harris to transfer from Gophers basketball program
Gophers freshman guard Jamir Harris was granted a release from his scholarship and will transfer, Minnesota coach Richard Pitino announced Friday.
Harris, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound North Brunswick, N.J. native, averaged 3.9 points and had 38 three-point field goals in 28 games this season. In the first of his two starts this season, he scored a career-best 16 points in an overtime win Jan. 15 at Penn State.
Davonte Fitzgerald leaving Gophers basketball, will play senior season elsewhere
Gophers forward Davonte Fitzgerald will transfer to another basketball program for his final year of eligibility, the school announced Monday.
Fitzgerald played one season for Minnesota, appearing in 31 games this past season as a junior with four starts. He averaged 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.
Fitzgerald earned his bachelor’s degree in communication studies in December and can now transfer to another program without sitting out a season, per NCAA rules.
