OPEN CAMP: July 26, Green Bay, Wisconsin
LAST YEAR: Finished under .500 and out of playoffs for first time since 2008. Offense struggled with QB Aaron Rodgers sidelined for seven games with broken collarbone. Defense plagued by porous secondary and lack of consistent pass rush. Injuries ravaged cornerback position again.
Panthers hire Richard Rodgers as secondary coach
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Panthers have hired Richard Rodgers as the secondary coach and Jeff Imamura will be the assistant secondary/cornerbacks coach.
Carolina also hired Vincent Rivera as defensive quality control coach Tuesday.
Mark Carrier, who has served as the team's director of player engagement since 2011, has been hired as the senior adviser to the general manager.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Eagles and tight end Richard Rodgers have agreed on a one-year contract.
Rodgers spent all four of his seasons in the NFL in Green Bay. He had 12 catches for 160 yards and one touchdown in 2017. They were career-lows in each category.
The 26-year-old Rodgers was a third-round pick in 2014 and had his best season in his second year when he caught 58 passes for 510 yards and eight TDs. Rodgers has 120 receptions for 1,166 yards and 13 TDs in his career.

Tom Oates: It’s time for Packers GM Brian Gutekunst to get to work
It’s almost March, which means it’s time for Brian Gutekunst to go to work.
Not that Gutekunst has been vacationing since becoming general manager of the Green Bay Packers in January, but now comes the hard part. Gutekunst has to start constructing the roster for a team that will be in win-now mode as long as quarterback Aaron Rodgers is around.
Packers rule out WRs Adams, Nelson for finale against Lions
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Receivers Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson are among six key players who will miss the Green Bay Packers' season finale against the Detroit Lions because of injuries.
Adams was in the concussion protocol after absorbing a hard hit two weeks ago from Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. Nelson left the 16-0 loss last week to Minnesota with a shoulder injury.
WR Jordy Nelson misses 2nd day of practice for Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Jordy Nelson missed a second day of practice with a shoulder injury, leaving his availability in the Packers' already short-handed receiving group in doubt for Green Bay's season finale against Detroit.
Leading receiver Davante Adams, who was in the concussion protocol following a hit two weeks ago from Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis, also appears unlikely to face the Lions after missing practice Thursday.
Jason Spriggs to IR as injuries shuffle Packers OL again
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers will have another new starting right tackle for their season finale at Detroit after Jason Spriggs was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Spriggs left following the first play from scrimmage in Green Bay's 16-0 loss to Minnesota. Utility offensive lineman Justin McCray moved over from right guard to replace Spriggs and could take over at tackle on Sunday against the Lions.
Packers adjust again, this time moving on after Bennett
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Another week, another change of direction for the Green Bay Packers.
And another change of teams for tight end Martellus Bennett.
The Packers, already dealing with quarterback Aaron Rodgers' absence because of a broken collarbone, will have to make further adjustments after waiving Bennett on Wednesday.
Packers: Mike McCarthy tinkers with offense as organized team activities begin
GREEN BAY — Mike McCarthy enjoyed letting his football play-designing imagination run wild. Now it’s time to start converting those ideas into action.
Ever since those two back-to-back days in mid-March when the Green Bay Packers added two play-making tight ends, the Packers longtime coach and offensive play-caller had been thinking about the possibilities.
NFL draft preview: Packers’ roster loaded with talented receivers, tight ends
GREEN BAY — Aaron Rodgers had been back at work for, oh, about three hours last week, and already he was downright giddy.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback has been blessed with some pretty remarkable squadrons of skill-position players — 2011, anyone? — but as the team reconvened for the start of the offseason program last Tuesday, Rodgers set down his medicine ball during a workout inside the Don Hutson Center and allowed his mind to wander.

Packers moves signal possible return of TE Jared Cook
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have signed linebacker Carl Bradford from their practice squad and released tight end Justin Perillo, a move that signals the likely return of starting tight end Jared Cook.
The 6-foot-4 Cook has been out since Week 3 with an ankle injury. He was listed as questionable for the game Sunday night at Washington after being a full participant in practice all week.
