IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Max Hazzard scored 15 of his 23 points in the first half as UC Irvine jumped out early and cruised to an 85-74 victory over UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday night.
The Anteaters opened on a 14-1 run, built a 36-19 halftime lead and led by 20 points with about five minutes left. Hazzard hit four 3-pointers in the first half and finished 6 of 7 from distance.
Welp, Cartwright help UCI beat Eastern Michigan 52-48
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Freshman Collin Welp had his first double-double and Robert Cartwright hit a 3-pointer with 11.3 seconds left to help UC Irvine beat Eastern Michigan 52-48 on Wednesday night.
Welp finished with 11 points and a season-high 10 rebounds, Max Hazzard scored 14 points and Evan Leonard added 10 for UCI. The Anteaters (11-2) have won 10 consecutive road games — tied with Virginia for the longest active streak in Division I.
Rutherford leads UC Irvine to ninth straight road win
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Tommy Rutherford scored 14 points including a basket in the final minute for what proved to be the winning points and UC Irvine defeated California Baptist 69-66 on Wednesday night.
Rutherford's right-handed hook with 48 seconds left put the Anteaters up 68-65. Jordan Heading made 1 of 2 free throws for the Lancers (4-5) and Robert Cartwright did the same for UC Irvine before the Lancers missed two 3-pointers in the final six seconds.

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — Robert Cartwright scored a season-high 17 points to help UC Irvine beat UTSA 65-56 on Monday in a first-round game of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
The Anteaters (5-0), who are off to their best start since the 1981-82 season, will play Tulane in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Cartwright, a graduate transfer from Stanford, made 4 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and 6-of-7 free throws.

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Reid Travis scored a game-high 26 points and had 12 rebounds and Stanford won its eighth straight season opener, beating Cal Poly 78-62 on Friday night.
Freshman Isaac White added 17 points for the Cardinal, who extended their winning streak against Cal Poly to six games. Dorian Pickens and Robert Cartwright each had 10 points and Michael Humphrey added nine boards.
