Ferrer beats Haase at ASB Classic in New Zealand
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Four-time champion David Ferrer opened play Tuesday in ASB Classic with a 6-2, 6-1 first-round win over Robin Haase.
The 36-year-old Ferrer said before Tuesday's match that this is his last season on the ATP Tour and he will not be returning as a competitor to a tournament that he won in 2007 and in three straight years from 2011 to 2013.
Alexander Zverev hits 50 wins beating Haase at Swiss Indoors
BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — Alexander Zverev became the first man to reach 50 wins on the ATP Tour this season by beating Robin Haase 6-4, 7-5 Wednesday in the first round of the Swiss Indoors.
The second-seeded German moved to 50-16 in a season that has brought three titles, including the Madrid Masters.
Zverev converted all four of his break points while saving eight of the 10 held by the 47th-ranked Dutchman.
UMAG, Croatia (AP) — Marco Cecchinato elevated his breakthrough year by reaching the Croatia Open final on Saturday.
The third-seeded Cecchinato dispatched Argentine qualifier Marco Trungelliti, a first-time semifinalist, 6-2, 6-1.
He will play another Argentine, the unseeded Guido Pella, who has reached his first career final after beating sixth-seeded Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
Top-seeded Ramos-Vinolas reaches 2nd round in Marrakech
MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Top-seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas was near-perfect on his first serve to dispatch Moroccan wild-card entry Amine Ahouda 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour to reach the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II on Tuesday.
Ramos-Vinolas of Spain took 20 of 22 points on his first serve to win in 68 minutes. He reached the final in Marrakech in 2012 when he lost to compatriot Pablo Andujar.
Pouille avenges loss to Khachanov to reach Dubai quarters
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Second-seeded Lucas Pouille of France defeated Karen Khachanov 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Dubai Championships, just three days after losing to the Russian in the Marseille final.

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) — Roger Federer added another highlight to his age-defying career resurgence by returning to the top of the world rankings on Friday after more than five years and becoming the oldest No. 1 at 36.

Adrian Mannarino won the first reverse singles in Albertville, France, after 4 hours, 20 minutes of an arduous contest against Robin Haase which featured 34 break-point chances.
Mannarino won 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5, 6-7 (2), 7-5 and punched the air as the French team celebrated wildly and poured water over Mannarino's head.

PUNE, India (AP) — Top-seeded Marin Cilic advanced to the Maharashtra Open semifinals with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Pierre-Hugues Herbert on Thursday.
Cilic served seven aces and lost only one of his first service points in a match that lasted 64 minutes.

Haase beats Kavcic in 1st round of Maharashtra Open
PUNE, India (AP) — Fifth-seeded Robin Haase started the new year with a 7-6 (6), 7-5 victory over Blaz Kavcic in the first round of the Maharashtra Open on Tuesday.
Kavcic broke the serve of 42nd-ranked Haase three times, but the Dutchman eventually came through to line up a match against Chile's Nicolas Jarry.

BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — Two-time Swiss Indoors champion Juan Martin del Porto beat Joao Sousa 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to advance to the second round on Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Del Potro dominated with his serve and sent down nine aces and 19 service winners against the 60th-ranked Portuguese.
Del Potro won back-to-back titles at Basel in 2012-13, both times beating hometown favorite Roger Federer in the final.

Bautista-Agut withdraws from ASB Classic
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Defending champion Robert Bautista-Agut of Spain has withdrawn from the ASB Tennis Classic without playing a match, citing a stomach virus.
The top-seeded Bautista-Agut had a bye in the first round and was due to play 2015 champion Jiri Vesely in his second round match on Wednesday. But the 28-year-old Spaniard, ranked 13 and the winner of the recent Chennai Open, informed organizers he was unable to play.
Nishikori, Del Potro advance easily at Swiss Indoors
BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — Kei Nishikori and Juan Martin del Potro won in straight sets at the Swiss Indoors on Wednesday to stay on course for a quarterfinals meeting.
Third-seeded Nishikori of Japan eased past Paolo Lorenzi of Italy 7-6 (3), 6-2 in a second round match.
Nishikori did not take any of his six break point chances in an error-strewn first set, and then upped his play in the second against the 38th-ranked Lorenzi.
Seppi sends Delbonis out of inaugural European Open
ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) — The 100th-ranked Andreas Seppi beat eighth-seeded Federico Delbonis 7-6 (7), 5-7, 6-3 Monday to advance to the second round of the inaugural European Open.
The Italian player next takes on Dutchman Robin Haase, who had an easier time against Paul-Henri Mathieu of France with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Also, Inigo Cervantes of Spain beat Germany's Michael Berrer 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
