HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Bryson DeChambeau reeled off four birdies in the last seven holes to shoot a 4-under 68 and remain top of the leaderboard after the second round of the European Open on Friday.
The 24-year-old American, who led overnight, finished with a 10-under total of 134. He is one stroke ahead of Richard McEvoy of England (65) and Matthias Schwab (67) of Austria.
DeChambeau shoots 6-under 66 to lead European Open
HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Bryson DeChambeau shot a 6-under 66 to take the first-round lead at the European Open on Thursday.
The 25-year-old American carded his best European Tour round in more than two years for a one-shot lead.
DeChambeau, who plays with a full set of irons all of the exact same length, had seven birdies in all. He birdied all but one of the five par-5s, including at the ninth — his last hole. He dropped a stroke on the par-4 No. 3.
SCIACCA, Sicily (AP) — Joakim Lagergren of Sweden won his first European Tour title with a dramatic playoff victory over Mike Lorenzo-Vera at the Sicilian Open on Sunday.
Lagergren birdied the first extra hole at Verdura Golf Club after he and overnight leader Lorenzo-Vera had finished tied on 16 under par.
Ireland wins GolfSixes on European Tour
ST. ALBANS, England (AP) — Ireland won the second edition of the European Tour's innovative GolfSixes tournament as Gavin Moynihan and Paul Dunne beat the French pair of Romain Wattel and Mike Lorenzo-Vera in the final on Sunday.
The Irish overcame the England Women's team of Charley Hull and Georgia Hall 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the six-hole matchplay event, then beat South Korea in the semifinals, with Moynihan chipping in for a birdie on the first playoff hole.
Kiradech leads KLM Open by 1 after 3rd round
SPIJK, Netherlands (AP) — Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand birdied his last hole to card 5-under-par 66 and take the lead after the third round of the KLM Open on Saturday.
Kiradech birdied four of his first eight holes and went around in regulation pars until his final-hole birdie. His 14-under total gave him a one-shot lead over Romain Wattel of France, who posted a 7-under 64 to move to 13 under.
