Patrick Carr runs for 139 yards; Houston beats Tulane 48-17
HOUSTON (AP) — Patrick Carr ran for a career-high 139 yards and two touchdowns and Houston rolled to a 48-17 victory over Tulane on Thursday night.
Houston (8-3, 5-2 American Athletic Conference) rebounded from its only home loss, 59-49, to Temple last week. The Cougars conclude their regular season at Memphis on Nov. 23. Tulane (5-6, 4-3) had its three-game win streak snapped.
Carr broke loose for a 21-yard score and added a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
King has hand in 5 TDs, leads Houston past Tulsa 41-26
HOUSTON (AP) — D'Eriq King threw for three touchdowns and ran for two scores, helping Houston beat Tulsa 41-26 on Thursday night.
Houston, trailing 26-17 early in the fourth quarter, scored 17 points in 91 seconds — during a 24-0 spurt. Dalton Witherspoon kicked a go-ahead, 27-26, field goal with 7:51 to go and the Cougars led by 15 points seven plays later.
Houston spoils Sumlin return, pounds Arizona 45-18
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston quarterback D'Eriq King and the rest of the Cougars' offense made it a miserable homecoming for Arizona coach Kevin Sumlin.
King threw for four touchdowns and rushed for two more as the Cougars hammered Arizona 45-18 on Saturday, dropping the Wildcats to 0-2 in Sumlin's first season.

King finished with 246 passing and 31 rushing yards while Houston improved to 2-0 on the season.
King connected with Marquez Stevenson on a 24-yard TD pass, scored on a 1-yard run, then hit tight end Romello Brooker for a 52-yard score and a 21-0 Houston lead after one quarter.
Arizona, playing uphill the rest of the game, never recovered.
Ward rallies Houston to 31-24 win over UCF
HOUSTON (AP) — Greg Ward Jr. ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in the second half as Houston rallied from a 21-point third-quarter deficit to beat Central Florida 31-24 on Saturday.
The Cougars (7-2, 4-2 American), who were ranked No. 6 before losing two of their previous three games and tumbling out of the rankings, could find themselves back in the Top 25 after their comeback against the Knights (4-4, 2-2).
