WWII vet’s daughter: Border wall plans threaten family’s final resting place located along the Rio Grande

BROWNSVILLE — Standing over the grave of her father, a World War II veteran, Estela A. Hernández looks around at the once tidy cemetery.

Such was the scene one Tuesday afternoon at the Santa Rosalia Cemetery, which is just half a mile past the border fence’s open entrance and down an unmarked dirt road near Brownsville, where a few U.S. Border Patrol agents are stationed.
